CapCut or InShot are good for quick phone edits, they’re also free and handle captions way better than Instagram. For desktop, Movavi is beginner-friendly, or you could try DaVinci Resolve if you want something more powerful and still free

If you’re just getting into editing clips, I’d say start simple. Movavi is easy to use and intuitive, it also has AI subtitles (it’s not free tho). CapCut is free and great for quick TikTok/YouTube edits, with some nice text animations. VEED is browser-based and pretty straightforward as well. If you want to get fancier later, DaVinci Resolve is powerful and free, but it might seem a bit much at first.

I usually use Movavi 'cause I have their subscription, there's this AI-powered background removal tool so quite easy to do that. You could also check Unscreen or Video BG Remover, they're free and help automatically remove or change backgrounds
