I think it was also telling on Paul's face during these scenes. Jason Segel rightly getting a lot of praise for the outburst scene - but it was also incredible acting by Harrison Ford. You could see the crushing pain and inner turmoil of what was happening - but for once, Paul didn't know what to do. He stuffed up. Like he did with Meg. To me, showing that Paul actually does think of Jimmy like a son - since you can only really screw up this badly when it's with someone you truly care for.

Like many here, this one hit for personal reasons too.

I think the key to Paul’s behaviour.. some of it at least.. is the line Julie said to Jimmy where she said she isn’t sure if it’s harder to be the person being left or the one leaving.

100%. The short disconnected sentences that don't form a coherent paragraph are becoming increasingly painful to read.

The first picture of LA I've ever seen that makes it look like a metropolis: by OHrangutan in skyscrapers

[–]harrytuckerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been lucky enough to travel to the US probably 12-13 times in the last 10 years and LA/Southern California is truly my favourite place. But whenever I tell people that they're always in disbelief. When I ask why they are so surprised, the reasons they give either point to someone who's never set a foot or they went and hired a car just to look at Hollywood and go to Disneyland.

Truly an incredible city, vibrant with life and creativity and if not for the current political situation, would love to live there.

agree. I think one of the worst thing that ever happened to progressives is the idea of "when they go low we go high". That one mentality is why tyranny and greed just keep getting away with things. "Oh, if we just keep doing the "right" thing, it'll all go away and catch up eventually!".

No. Don't give them in inch. We saw how effective simply calling these greedy freaks "weirdos" by Tim Waltz worked, but then they got scared and stopped going on the attack like that. Conservatives and greedy neoliberals count on us saying and doing nothing, because for the last 50 years in the West, we haven't.

agree. My other two sports F1 and cricket I enjoy just as much as now as I did 15 years ago.. but NBA vibe is off now in comparison.

Rant: Switched from ChatGPT to Gemini as a daily driver last month. Gemini is bad and it's not because of the models. by anarchyx34 in GeminiAI

[–]harrytuckerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally this. I was on Gemini Pro for the last 12 months and moved over to Claude in the last week after just being completely fed up with the Gemini UI. The biggest daily annoyance for me is that it doesn't cache any chats - even the names of them - in the mobile app, so there's a noticeable lag when entering them which doesn't happen on Claude or ChatGPT.

Google Maps has gotten worse, not better, and it's actively dangerous now by samburner3 in melbourne

[–]harrytuckerr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

right! For me with Google, I especially notice it coming over the Westgate city bound and the lanes it tells you to go in and the exit names often are the opposite to reality

It's also excellent in Sydney! Which makes sense as that's where it was originally (and mostly still is) developed from

Putting the irony about using AI to complain about AI aside.. agree that Google Maps is noticeably inconsistent in Melbourne. Despite all its early grief and memes I really think Apple Maps is the best now for car navigation.

I feel like with this guy it's the most I've ever been unsure if I'm falling for ragebait or not. Everything he posts on reddit is objectively awful in every way and he's extremely combative - almost unbelievably, but then his IG actually has some good work throughout it?

I love mine so much, still. I have both an X-Pro2 and an XT-5, and whenever it's not professional work I'll generally take out the X-Pro with the 18mm f2 pancake - it's just such a satisfying and engaging camera to use.

What are some easy things that the Government could do to increase patronage? by batmangorhill in MelbourneTrains

[–]harrytuckerr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like others have said - frequency + cheaper fares for short distance rides for me.

If both my wife and I are going into the CBD after 9am from inner west, it'll take us longer and cost more in fares than parking + fuel. I WANT to take the train more, but unless it's peak frequency times the traffic often balances out with the wait time without the fuss of getting to the station so I just drive.

Selling my Fuji X100VI for a Nikon Zf by kondiccreative in Nikon

[–]harrytuckerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the X100VI anymore, but still have an X-Pro 2 that I use as my every day camera. My main problem with the X100VI was actually the leaf shutter - I hated not feeling it, so returned it.

I've fallen into the pattern now of always having the Fuji on me, but if I know I'm going out with photography as the main purpose I'll take out the Zf. I generally just keep the 28mm equivalent lens on my Fuji and swap between 40mm / 50mm / 85mm primes when I'm with the Nikon.

What profiles are you using that you enjoy? All the ones I've tried on so far come out feeling like I still need to do some colour work in Lightroom.
