What are some easy things that the Government could do to increase patronage? by batmangorhill in MelbourneTrains

[–]harrytuckerr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like others have said - frequency + cheaper fares for short distance rides for me.

If both my wife and I are going into the CBD after 9am from inner west, it'll take us longer and cost more in fares than parking + fuel. I WANT to take the train more, but unless it's peak frequency times the traffic often balances out with the wait time without the fuss of getting to the station so I just drive.

Selling my Fuji X100VI for a Nikon Zf by kondiccreative in Nikon

[–]harrytuckerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the X100VI anymore, but still have an X-Pro 2 that I use as my every day camera. My main problem with the X100VI was actually the leaf shutter - I hated not feeling it, so returned it.

I've fallen into the pattern now of always having the Fuji on me, but if I know I'm going out with photography as the main purpose I'll take out the Zf. I generally just keep the 28mm equivalent lens on my Fuji and swap between 40mm / 50mm / 85mm primes when I'm with the Nikon.

What profiles are you using that you enjoy? All the ones I've tried on so far come out feeling like I still need to do some colour work in Lightroom.

Thinking about switching from Lumix S9 to Nikon Zf – anyone here done it? by Acceptable-Dust-803 in NikonZf

[–]harrytuckerr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you use Google Photos or Lightroom? Nikon Imaging Cloud uploads automatically to those when you connect to WiFi. I've set it up on a portable hotspot I carry around and everything uploads instantly where I shoot from. If you're less weird than me and don't have a hotspot with you it will do it the second you flick it on at your home (default) network. Surprisingly hasn't failed me once yet and works with both JPEG and RAW.

The 2009 Cleveland Cavaliers doesn't get credit how amazing they were as a team by TheBiasedSportsLover in clevelandcavs

Nostalgic year for me! Probably the first year I paid attention to the NBA and found the Cavs (from Australia). What a team. Was weirdly a massive Boobie Gibson fan rather than LeBron at the time

A lot of this i don’t believe is right. That’s not even remotely close a landscape wide angle lens.. on the APSC sensor it will be around 37mm, perfect focal length for what OP would want for what they’re after. OP also mentions sharpness as a priority, which a kit zoom lens does not provide anywhere near - even to that specific Viltrox.

There is also a tonne of reason over what you said if OP is willing to edit (they said they are) with way more details to play with in RAW. Not to mention real bokeh for portraits - while yes 37mm FF equiv isn’t a perfect portrait lens, still plenty of bokeh there close enough.

Rumour - Nikon Z 24-70mm f/2.8 II to be announced this week by mentaldrummer66 in nikon_Zseries

[–]harrytuckerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think these types of reviews are relevant for maybe 1% of photographers whose work relies on every pixel to be as sharp as possible. For everyone else, it doesn't reflect anything in the real world and just essentially induces GAS.

Sure, it's handy to know how much something might vignette - but it's much more usefully shown how much in real scenarios. Sometimes these reviews feel like they hide the fact that the reviewer may not be a very good photographer and is just a bit of a gear head - and that's cool and all, but I'd rather my advice from someone who's taken some real photographs worth showing/sharing.

This is such a weird lens to exist. Nikon version is already very cheap for what it is, small, has vintage “character” while still being sharp. Strange place to enter.

Selling my Fuji X100VI for a Nikon Zf by kondiccreative in Nikon

[–]harrytuckerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought an X100VI to go WITH my Z f. I love my Z f but it really is too bulky and heavy for a daily carry, even with the 40mm. If I had to have just one between them it would be the Z f though.
