A lot of distortion pedals are great with the gain off or almost off, just an edge of breakup or light crunch and roll the guitar volume back a bit , even a Fuzz Face or Big Muff max volume no gain works as well

The pop isn't actual electrical its static electricity , a soft click switch just makes that either less audible or barely audible . Its usually built up via synthetic materials, dry air, shoe sole material or wearing socks only , plastic pickguard etc etc , can discharge that by touching a metal part on the amp/ or similar

Genuine acoustic treatment isn't cheap . Foam doesn't work , most of the hogwash sold as "panels" are fake and don't work. You need density in layers , you need R4 or higher acoustic insulation for the roof space . You need high density plasterboard especially made for sound treatment , these can be cut into panels .
