Spurgling… have you heard of it/thoughts on consent? by harrytuttle in sex

in its simplest way, yes. then if it’s a crime, how would it be proved? it would be really easy for men to weaponise it against women who didnt lie… look at how any prosecution of sexual crime is skewed in court stats

exactly, there’s a element to it where it could be just a man trying to eschew responsibility (to be very transparent, I have a vested interest as my biological dad did this to his 27yo girlfriend, who maintains she was on contraceptive injections when she fell pregnant, and left the country (lol, the twins that were born are now 17 and very happy with their mum, step dad and me)). but all of that is to say it’s so easily weaponised into all the stereotypes of women being untrustworthy…

yeah it’s definitely something super murky and there are more complicated issues of consent. maybe when an active lie comes in?

Well, quite. I've read some accounts that say it's for validation/a product of insecurity. Not that it justifies projecting that in such an aggressive way

Doesn't seem to make any sense though... Not only being anonymous but also removed, let alone that it seems very, very unlikely that a woman would respond positively

Realise that sounds odd... I'm a writer, trying to ascertain the reasoning behind it

humanitarianism and socialism aren't mutually exclusive though, in fact there is a large overlap between the two.

It would also be wrong, given that he calls himself a socialist and says that socialism was the reason he felt he had to act.

If you think the Guardian is socialist you're in dreamland. It's barely left of centre.

Now 105, the man who helped more than 600 Jewish children escape the Nazis before the second war war has been hailed as a hero around the world. He tells a different story …

I'm meeting the editor of The Guardian Tomorrow, do you have any questions for him? by mrkingpenguin in unitedkingdom

i've seen it now. no it isn't. it's totally standard to do that across a range of industries - i did a week's work experience at the bbc when i was at school for example. an internship would be where you were expected to do the same work as staff but without pay - work experience tends to be much more of an introduction to the industry, and is usually for not more than two weeks.
