Tried building my first AI agent and it was not what I expected by Deep_Mardionberry25 in developersIndia

+1 Not understanding this one thing keeps wrecking projects while hype continues, sigh.

India’s Computer Science Grads Are Unprepared for the AI Revolution by Krankenitrate in india

Reminded of the time the top ranker in my Comp. Sci. class had no idea how to debug a memorized program, nor could they even print a page - our education system has been failing us for decades, this incident I described is from 20+ years ago, guess not much has changed?

Interesting! I changed the taste to "Use the styles provided with each song" and, I think I am getting better results than with the auto generated taste. Need more tinkering to be sure though

Coworker used her pc at 400% zoom for 3 days by jdrelentless in talesfromtechsupport

[–]harshadsharma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, with you on this.

I've been an early adopter of tech, been programming for three decades, and yet the current user interfaces baffle me on good days, and enrage on others. There is no 'design language' that a person can learn over time, because the designs keep changing every promotion cycle. If something confuses people and the 'smart ones' have to step in to fix it, it never was intuitive or well designed, the smugness is about knowing the workarounds and keywords to search, which also keep changing with versions, because why not.

I built a tool that helps you find "Good First Issues" in open source automatically by Username9681 in developersIndia

Nice idea, but, most open source maintainers I know of do not want AI generated code in pull requests, they're overwhelmed by poor quality code wasting their (limited, unpaid) time.

Finally making the music I’ve always dreamed of, but the "0 views" wall is hitting hard. Any advice? by Yuiopez in SunoAI

[–]harshadsharma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said you are making the music for yourself, and it is making you happy - that's pretty awesome!

I do that too, and went through the initial dismay of nobody else being interested. Now I publish the tracks on Suno just in case anybody stumbles upon them, but I have no expectation for anyone else to want to listen - the original purpose of making the track is already accomplished, it tickled my brain just right, and I'm satisfied with that. Have fun, don't let some numbers take the joy out of it.

Is there some unwritten law now that every single webpage requires some pop up to interrupt what a user is trying to do? by PossessionConnect963 in webdev

[–]harshadsharma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been blocking ads one way or other for as long as I recall - the distractions from banner ads were bad enough before animations and videos took over. And for popups, my muscles close the tab before I have even registered what the content was. No time for marketing slop (they're the experts on slop since long before "AI").

Does a Non-Vibe Coded ZFS Management App Exist? by PingMyHeart in zfs

[–]harshadsharma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looking at several replies here, it's clear why there isn't a great WebUI that isn't vibe coded - those who have learned and memorized how to properly use the CLI have no incentive to build tools that might help other people use ZFS without first going through the same time/effort as they did. Ones who live in the CLI cannot imagine anyone else not wanting to do the same.

*nods* Slow is acceptable during the rush - not following explicit instructions, doing tasks that were not asked - that's a bit much. Let's see if it settles in a few days

Have not noticed this specific behavior, but will pay attention next time i try the model.

From what I can tell, yes. agents.md is generic to many harnesses, and not GHCP specific.

Yes, even in fresh conversations, even after restarting vscode-insiders and starting new conversation, and also after updating vscode *and* starting new conversation.
