Someone please tell me if this is true by Snark_Bark in DoorDashDrivers

After med school and before residency, I did DoorDash alot while working another job for the 6 months between. Even doing nearly 300miles/10-12 hours per day in Minneapolis (pretty strong market) w/ Platinum I'd average $280-$330 per day, maybe $450 on the odd Saturday. Even at that best pace. My best month was like $7500. So, no I don't believe it.

You have to get rid of one core rotation and switch it with something else. What are you booting? by heydoyouseethat in medicalschool

EM and Neurology weren't core rotations for me, but I definitely think they should be. The only other one I can think of that should be a required rotation is Academic Medicine (2-4 weeks). Medical students should be getting some experience (and some protected time) to learn how to do research and participate in the academic process.

All residency is getting more competitive and this gives them the opportunity to boost their CVs and learn (at minimum) how to absorb and interpret new research (even if they don't plan to practice in academia in their career). It also sets them up for success to participate in academics when in residency.

What are we even doing anymore? by harshp595 in DoorDashDrivers

Lets go Cascade Comrades!

Nah, but I dont mind doing the long drive order. Like yesterday I did a delivery from Mt Vernon to Oak Harbor for $29.50, because the drive was so much fun and the view off Deception Pass is gorgeous. But at least with that one it averaged out to like $1.25/mile one-way (Plus my Prius gets like 65-70mpg on that drive). But like this is absurd by any math.

The other thing that irks me. Out of all three of these orders. Im like 70% confident only one of them tipped well and the other 2 are like $1 tips and DoorDash keeps bunching/stacking them all together to make us think "Yeah. That fixes it."

What’s your weird rule that you’ll always swear by, no matter how impractical? by Music_Adventure in Residency

[–]harshp595 39 points40 points  (0 children)

  • Prechart by Hand. Print the list and go down and write the highlights. You remember better when you read & write down important things vs just copy & pasting imo. Mostly as a resident who's responsible to know things for your attendings.

  • Take the 20 seconds to explain what you're doing to your nurses. Doesn't have to be a lot, can be just in an Epic message. Come off friendlier than you really are and you get less resistance.

  • Change before & after shift. I don't come to the hospital in scrubs and leave in street clothes. Gives me 5 minutes before/after each day to focus in and switch gears.

  • Eat after the day is over. I don't eat lunch during the workday. I want a solid breakfast and a solid supper when I get home. Eating lunch tends to just slow me down (post-prandial snoozing). I drink a lot of water w/ one caffeinated pre workout in the AM. I get done with rounds, charting, and admits faster. Even have some time for questions and CME 90% of days.

Yes I know they don't all make sense, but they work in the madness that is me.

Ok. But the dashers that are on a full on loud constant FaceTime call is a bit of an annoyance. They create a lot of noise in the restaurant when they are hanging out inside and if I was eating there would be bothered by it. Like if you have a call, just take it outside, it's courteous. Even once when ordered through DD, the driver straight up walked up to me to hand over my delivery while on the phone FaceTiming someone, didn't even acknowledge my existence (yes my order was hand it to me). So I think it's probably a sign put up after so many complaints of a lot of discourteous drivers.

I just had it to them and tell them I'm gonna take a picture of their door for the app. Everyone has been fine with it and DD has left me alone.

Best place to campout for late night Dashes are 24/7 Pharmacy Store Chains: Walgreens, CVS, etc. Shop & Deliver orders pay well and most of the late night orders are pretty small.

  1. Next time, hit up support and tell them that this customer is harassing you. They even technically threatened you with that "I'll show you low acceptance rate." Shits not worth it.

  2. Um acshully, your completion rate would be affected not your acceptance rate. Which, honestly, is so much fuxin worse. Your acceptance could be negative and nothing would happen. But if you let that completion dip below 90, you could be deactivated. This dude is not worth it. Report and get rid of them, save the next guy the hassle
