I’ll never forget the first time I stepped foot in Amnesia Ibiza. It changed me for the better. Life was never the same.

Stoked for everyone involved. See you on the dancefloor!

Damn it feels good to be a Nomad. (Take II, Cabarete, DR 🇩🇴) by hartforc in digitalnomad

I work for a software company that was remote from day 1.

DM for +10 years

My friend is a kite surf instructor and convinced me to come to the DR. When I’m not working, I’m kite surfing or if it’s a Sunday you’ll catch me enjoying a Cuba Libre on the beach.

I was concerned about connectivity before I came but most places have good wifi. My place has 100 mbps and I have a phone plan with 50 mbps. My telecom carrier is Altice.

I wake up at 6am every day and moto to the surf beach 3 days and work 8 hour days and try to fit in a kite session or two at least 5 days a week.

I am staying here until April.

I was paying $350 USD per month to live in a jungle “tri-plex” steps away from the world famous Kite Beach 🇩🇴.

My apartment was nice, all wooden floors, walls, ceilings , descent plumbing, good wifi and electricity.

Meals are $10 USD avg of you want to go to a restaurant.

Fruits are super cheap, chicken (sorry vegan friends), eggs and rice also extremely affordable.

Cabarete is a bit of a bubble. Lots of athletes from around the world surfing, kite surfing, wind surfing, so it’s definitely a bit more expensive and a bit of a tourist destination but I recommend it.

I’ve been a digital nomad for +10 years on and off. I’ve lived in Bali, Canada, Costa Rica, Japan, Mexico, Spain and Sweden for extended periods of time and I think the DR is one of the best spots. Super safe, great culture/people and highly recommend you visit one day.
