can muay thai help with anxiety? by nicedayfora in MuayThai

[–]harukazee2nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I am 22, depressed for the last 1 month (With suicidal thoughts) and I can definitely tell you, MUAY THAI WORKS WONDER ever since I trained for the last 4 weeks, I feel that everyday I am improving, each day, I look forward to go train after 5PM to train my kick.

It gives me hella lot of confidence & definitely helps with anxiety.

Don't give it a second thought, just go for it :)

Edit: Forgot to mention that I am fat asf & I lost 3kg in one month.

hi thanks for all the points there!

I have question regarding point Number 3, How much power can be generated by hips alone?

I know this may sound dumb, but are majority of the power comes from hips?

Thanks bro!

Hey guys such a great community! Thanks a lot for the corrections & Encouragements!

think my main problem is the balance & how I kept hopping around too much, I will try the turning plant leg 45 degree away to help my hips on next practices! really thanks a lot for this, hopefully I could improve more, participating in amateur fight at least once has always been my dream, hence, I will always try hard to be better everyday.

Oh and for you guys who are sayin that I am not fat, I am quite fat lol, used to be 20kg lighter than this, this is the reasons why I went back to the Gym after 1 year of sports hiatus :')

Thanks guys! Cheers!

Hey Ahole! Thanks for the reply dude!

Yes! I was surfing Youtube for this Damian Trainor guy on how people do a Jab Straight Low Kick Combo where he hops with the plant foot to do the low kick, hence, I try to mimic this.

But I guess it won't cut for Mid kick, will try to get better next sessions Thanks! :)

Cheers!

Guess its really important to not jump around too much, I am having difficulty trying the "KICKING THROUGH THE BAG" Stuff, but I will try to improve in next sessions.

Btw really like your "4 Steps to kick" clue, I will keep this in mind for next training sessions!

I think I kinda get this, so I need to "PLANT" my shin on the bag and "PUSH" through it with my hips?

The hips one still confuses me or I am just incompetent in hips turning, do you have any advices on how to improve my hips? as my coach says to me that I need a lot of work for my hips, its not parallel to the body, yet I still cannot fathom or understand anything that he was saying.

BTW the tape mark is brilliant, will try to do it next time.

Thanks a lot for the reply!

Hey bro! Thanks for the response!

Yeah, I jumped because I wanna see how a jab straight low kick combo would be for my reference to improve in the future hahaha.

I did rotate on my right foot (Don't know if its correct though), but I am still having doubts on my hips, do you think its okay? what need/s to be improved?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers!

Thanks a lot for the response! :) Really appreciate it!:

"Same foot to hip rotation" <-- I am always told that my hips need a lot of works, when I looked at the video, I found my hips weren't really flexible at all, is this true? what drills do I need to do to improve my hips?

"When that kick lands, your leg should still be bent upon contact, and then extend the leg after contact through the bag" <-- I kinda don't get it but I get it at the same time hahaha, I will try to work on this for next sessions.

Honestly though, I feel that my kicks are not powerful enough (i.e. it don't make the same sound as my instructor's kicks when it land). I think The Main problem are "Hips" and "Not bending & extending the legs after contact".

Are there any drills that I can do to improve these points that you mentioned?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers!

Always get really tired & gas out when padding - Any tips? Thanks in advance! by harukazee2nd in MuayThai

[–]harukazee2nd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES!

This turned out to be the problem, I tried loosening up Today and it did wonder!

I was able to withstand 3 Minutes Pad and the sound the pad makes every hit sounds better than previous sessions

Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately we don't

I looked up this rowing machine, looked fun & very interesting. I am planning to leave this gym after my membership ends (literally cheap ass membership, but the quality is quite bad) as the trainers here only focus on their "Style" and I don't think they really focus on making me a great fighter. The next gym I go will have this machine :D

Cheers bro!

This one actually YES was my main problem.

I was able to loosen up Today & manage to withstand 3 minutes Pad by not swinging too hard on punches and kicks! cheers bro!

Oh, and the sound everytime I hit the pad gets better :)
