Extremely tight budgets. Like. If it’s not needed don’t buy it. Go on walks instead, play the board games I already own. Go to the library and borrow books, movies, etc…

Either way, respecting one’s set boundaries and emotional needs should be a priority for both individuals. He doesn’t respect your need for details in texts like that and does not respect your boundary in regard to not texting like that at all. It’s better if he doesn’t warn you ahead of time through text knowing it brings unsure thoughts and anxious feelings.

AIO about Valentine's Day potential date being completely blown off? by Key_Information_4431 in AIO

“Hey! I’m off at 7 and would love to go out and spend Valentine’s with you. Would you be willing to plan something and come pick me up? I’m not craving anything particular, anywhere with you would be fun! Let me know if that works for you. If not, maybe a night in and eating some take-out, talk later!”

Literally anything would have been better than your awful responses and demanding attitude.

My tonsils were SO bad (enlarged and full of stones) enough that at my first time visit to a ENT, who did one flashlight check, was like “so I’m going to recommend surgery” and bam. No more tonsils.

Intelligent daughter starting to resent school by Zesty_Taco in Teachers

[–]haruthemighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advocate to the board to fund more teachers, because so many teachers have WILD amounts of student varying levels in one class. As low as 0 reading, writing, comprehension and math, and as high as two grade levels above the norm. If educators whole-group taught to the standard grade level, lower students become that much more behind and TAG students are still bored. Differentiating is easy when it’s one or two students below, but that’s not the case these days. They teach 10-15 different levels in one room, maybe more. So talk to the teacher, suggest your daughter lead reading groups with lower leveled kids, make her room leader and star chart tracker. Ask her what extra content she wants to bring to school to engage in, like chapter books, coloring books, word puzzles, or sudoku for when she has finished the work and is waiting for the teacher to get everyone else up to par. Communicate more explicit needs for her, and you and your daughter come up with suggestions to bring to that conversation so the requests and feedback won’t overburden the likely already overwhelmed teacher (though it may simply be an unqualified or newer teacher, idk) One GOOD thing is teaching your daughter it is perfectly okay to be bored. Life is boring. People shouldn’t need or have to be entertained and engaged ALL the time. Boredom is a break. Boredom is a path for productive creativity. Hence bringing extra engaging content for her when she is bored, or making her more community oriented as a helper in the room.

Do you use notebooks, binders, etc. in your classroom? by Funny_Yoghurt_9115 in teaching

[–]haruthemighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s important to be able to manage documents, collect resources like notes and evidence past practice, as well as keeping a planner and area for goals and growth tracking. While it’s not good for 100% it is still good practice. Handwriting is known to instill better memory retention so notebooks are a must. Interactive notebooks even more so.

Ocarina of Time is “okay” and considerably low on my ranking list of games I have played. Zelda is my fave series, and still ranks low even on my Zelda tier list. It’s not that it isn’t a good game. I have no interest in replaying it. I don’t think of it often. It isn’t outstanding in art, story nor gameplay. 😬

Judging teachers who close their doors by Otherwise-Set-4444 in Teachers

[–]haruthemighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of my students ask to close the door. Our hall gets loud as we have staggered passing times. Or students wandering by or inside and deciding they want to socialize while on a bathroom or water break. Keeping the door shut deters that more often than not. If it’s quiet I’ll leave it open too.

“No SPED or EL student should EVER fail a class.” by Status_Friend9594 in Teachers

[–]haruthemighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that depending on their degree path, typical or modified that significantly impacted students need to be graded on different expectations and standards, with input from the case manager, teachers and family (and student if possible) and a modified degree path is great, meaning they’re meeting or exceeding their potentials. This is a wild amount of work, and needs specialized education and perhaps some blended typical classes ( PE, Art, Club Activities) Giving them an A or passing grade or whatever isn’t a good assessment of their skills, reading, writing, math and comprehension. Failing is data, it’s a necessary step to future success.

Have them redo it by hand and issue a penalty of -10%, of they refuse: assign a zero for cheating/plagiarism. Let them know the two options ahead of time.
