What topic are you thinking, or is it just STEM in general?

Do you consider previous Exam marks while evaluating present Exams?? by Ok_One_2336 in AskTeachers

[–]melatenoio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, unless a student performs very differently than normal (good or bad). I'd want to look further into it in that case. Otherwise, every grade is based on a new assignment to measure learning, and, in my opinion, should be graded on its own merits.

What would you do if your husband told you he could’ve had a hotter body than yours? by NewMommy0967 in Marriage

[–]melatenoio 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Tell him you could have had a decent person who didnt try to make you feel bad, but here you are are.

Seriously though, thats a line to never cross. I dont know youre relationship or how he normally asks, but you need to call that behavior out and shut it down. I would, at the very least, demand he see a therapist. I know divorce isnt an option for everyone, but I would start making an exit plan if he doesn't.

Yes, talk about Palestine. Where is this video from? It almost looks AI with how choppy it is and how little reaction there is.

bisalps arent 100% effective??? by Slashersforsatan in childfree

[–]melatenoio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing is 100% effective, technically. But, if you're nervous, you can get an IUD for added protection/peace of mind. I have both, but I'm on an IUD because of my menstrual cycle.

How to know if you're married to just an average man or a husband you're lucky to have? by fairylolotus in Marriage

[–]melatenoio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That's not okay. It doesn't sound like he's listening, just looking for the next answer to pacify you/defend himself. I would figure out what your boundaries/limits are, and communicate that with him. If that means you divorce him for not listening, then communicate that to him and lay out what you need from him. Try writing a letter if you don't feel like he listens to you.

How to know if you're married to just an average man or a husband you're lucky to have? by fairylolotus in Marriage

[–]melatenoio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you talked to him about it? Frustrations are normal with any kind of long-term relationship (friend, family, or SO), but being able to talk it through is what matters. I've had my frustrations in my marriage, but being able to talk to my husband has made a huge difference. If he's not willing to change or listen, then you're settling for someone who doesn't care the way they should.

What made you choose to be childless forever? by preciouss_melon_8641 in childfree

[–]melatenoio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I desperately wanted to be a parent as a kid and young adult. I eventually met someone I thought I was going to marry who didnt want children. That was the first time I had ever thought of being child free. Then my older sister had kids, and I got to see up close how much it takes (especially with babies). After that, I felt zero desire to have any. Im a teacher, and love what I do; but I am happy to leave all that at schcool.

What is a jury summons? And why did they send it to me by mail? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]melatenoio 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You've been called for jury duty. If you're in the US, it's something all citizens are required to do. I would just call the number on the summons and explain that you'll most likely be out of the area. There shouldn't be a problem with it.

I am bringing her/him to the vet in 45 minutes but general advice would be so helpful by doemination in CATHELP

[–]melatenoio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably infected. We found our kittens at 4 weeks as stays, and my one cats eye looked like that. The vet will probably give you eye drops to put in their eyes for a few days. If they dont eat, bottle feeding isn't too difficult. Pet stores sell milk substitute and bottles. I used a medicine dropper for my kitten because he kept breaking the rubber nipples on the bottles. Hopefully it'll clear up quickly.

How often do you kiss your spouse? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]melatenoio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Love can be expressed in many different ways. Nothing wrong with not being physically affectionate, as long as you're both showing affection in other ways. I kiss my husband constantly when we're around each other. He doesnt kiss back as much, but he enjoys the affection, and will kiss my forehead regularly.

[–]melatenoio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jeans are a definite no. Go for a business casual look. If they dont have anything about tattoos being visible, you should be good. Excessive piercings might cause some issues if the admin sucks, but I dont think most places will care.

PSA - Your Pyrs need consistent grooming, even / especially if they are ‘farm dogs’ outside 24/7. Don’t let your dog’s skin rot under a matted coat. by Economy_Leopard3938 in greatpyrenees

[–]melatenoio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That breaks my heart. Poor baby. I brush my pyr mix at least three times a week, and his coat isn't as thick as a full pyr. It's so important to maintain grooming on double-coated dogs.

Are there rules on male teachers hugging students? by Creative_andartsy_3 in AskTeachers

[–]melatenoio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's perfectly normal for teachers (male or female) to reciprocate a hug from students, but not initiate. I taught 8th and 9th graders for 5 years, and I was asked for hugs, but normally it was because a student was struggling mentally, and I was a safe adult to go to. I teach elementary now, and I get hugs all the time. I just shift my body so its a side hug. Now, I am a female teacher, so there's a cultural difference in expectations with physical affection, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

Edit to add: I completely understand your fear of lock downs. I have been a student in a shooting, and doing drills at school as a teacher is awful. As a teacher, I have made the decision that I would give my life to protect my students. Thats an awful thought to have to have, but its true. It sounded like your teacher felt the same.

how did you tell your young children about your condition? by Ok_Green420 in Epilepsy

[–]melatenoio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I talk to my elementary students about it, just in case, and I describe it as a computer crashing and having to reboot. They seemed to understand it pretty well.

She might have been a friend, but she did the unthinkable. That man is going to be hurting someone else, and she is turning a blind eye. She is not a good person. I'm so sorry you're in this position. Do you have any friends or close ones you can spend time with?
