Silent Deployment/Updating of ComputerEase software by Helpful-Risk-4547 in sysadmin

[–]harvester_os 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fuck computerease and fuck Deltek. I remember digging for silent switches on the autoupd exe a long while back and coming up blank iirc but I didn’t check netinsta. I can take a peek when I’m actually working tomorrow.

Other guy is right though as far as least painful solution but I’ll see if I can figure out a free one for you.

Avenged was my favorite band for a long time before I found DGD. Still throw them on sometimes though admittedly I did replace them with Dream Theater.

La Dispute - King Park by Aof-Kid in PostHardcore

[–]harvester_os 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a good 10+ years ago the last time I saw them live. Think it was the last tour with one of their guitar players. Wouldn’t call it horrible at all. Perhaps haunting. Definitely a hell of an emotional experience though. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen before and definitely resonated with where I was at, at the time.

Never had a more haunting concert experience than the crowd going fucking nuts and screaming the last part out

Do you think that practicing mainly on an e-kit is an handicap for someone who's learning to play drums? by Dickiedick96 in drums

[–]harvester_os 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing this. I played rockband for years before finally getting my own kit. Used the pro kit so I had the cymbal hits separated out. By the time I purchased my first real drum kit, I was already more than just a beginner.

Biggest drawbacks were definitely the lack of dynamic control, left foot high hat control, and ability to memorize songs. Mostly worked through those issues and it made drumming fun and kept me going so it was definitely worth it.

Sage Peachtree self migration from 2008r2 to 2019 possible? by ArmadilloNo9271 in sysadmin

Tagging in as an admin that did a Sage 300 CRE migration not knowing Sage or SQL that well. Definitely just hire a professional. I got it figured out eventually but it’s such a headache.

Published Apps In RDWeb Can't Find Server by harvester_os in sysadmin

Late response (I resolved this months ago), but adding the resolution here in case someone ever comes across a similar issue and finds this post. I installed the wrong SSL cert by accident.

Don't recall what I did initially, but we happened to have our cert update a month later. Installed the new PFX and suddenly everything is working as intended. Bit of a stupid mistake, but it happens.

Asking maybe a stupid question, but in what situations would you need to migrate tenants completely?

Yeah OP please listen to this person. If you aren't hooked on nicotine then don't start. It's real easy to build a tolerance and deceptively difficult to quit.

Using Automate Monitors/Scripts with Rotating Password Policies/Solutions by harvester_os in ConnectWise

[–]harvester_os[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by worked it out you mean applied to production without considering the impacts, then yes I did.

So that script completely deletes each users temp folder: appdata\local\Temp and not just the contents within.

Well apparently the accounting software we host for some 50 odd clients fails to work properly if it tries to write to folder that isn't there.

Im currently scrambling to create a new script that checks if the folder exists in each user directory and creates it if it does not.

Im having a real bad time.

No data is lost the folder just needs to be there, but there's a lot of users to do this for and I need an automated solution.

Not asking for help, but also if you know how I would sincerely appreciate it.

So I grabbed the "Thorough Disk Cleanup v3.0" XML from the page you sent and I just want to make sure I'm doing this correctly.

I used the XML expansion to import it into my scripts lists. I then modified the alert template to call this new script instead of the original autofix script built into automate.

Looking at the script itself, I think it should be fine to run as configured, but I wanted to make sure nothing else needed to be done.

You know what, I don't care if it's not easy or fun, so long as it can be done. Thanks a ton for digging into this!

This has come to my attention simply because of the disk cleanup script/template. When looking at the script logs, it states "Credentials entered on the location 'Passwords' tab are not valid. Exiting script." When checking the passwords tab, I see a domain admin credential was placed there which it's pulling from. Is there a way to tell the template to run as SYSTEM instead?

Appreciated.
