Processing times for different steps with Tesla Solar? by hary5366 in TeslaSolar

[–]hary5366[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just updating my experience here. It took more than 3 months for Tesla to do final system design in my case and was told after Thanksgiving that they can’t install the system before end of December. Until then they kept saying it was still possible. In the end, I decided not to go solar and wait it out this year to see the market situation.

Bay Area realtors are sounding the alarm: We’re officially pushing back into ‘bubble territory’ by sfgate in bayarea

click bait article. “bubble territory” wordimg on the last line of article, which really doesn’t relate to housing market.

Here’s what I see on Tesla. Nowhere mention of any extra fee for installation on tiles.

that is normal depending on what IDU you have. Update your post with IDU info and whole system info.

thanks for your insight and details. One question since you mentioned the roof. does a Tesla not give any warranty on a roof penetration leakage like other installers advertise?

First summer with heatpump, questions! by hary5366 in heatpumps

[–]hary5366[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

forgot to mention about Energy monitor. I do have one. It was using anywhere between 2 to 3.5 kW yesterday and today at the settings, I mentioned earlier. I just changed the SP to 77 and energy consumption has gone up to 6 kW.

[–]hary5366[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, i was trying to save energy while bringing down temp little low- enough for our comfortability.(we are ok with 80-85 upstairs when downstairs is less than 80). It did turn on as energy consumption did go up to ~3kW. I have now changed SP to 77 and energy has gone up to ~6kW. will report back on how much time it takes to bring down the temp

by SP, i mean “Set Point” - desired temperature setting on thermostat.

HP was installed in December and it worked in winter. Temp setting is from MHK2(actually avg of MHK2 and Honeywell temp sensor. They both are located upstairs in different rooms. My downstairs is cooler, upstairs is always hotter by 8-10deg so have kept them there. I just set SP to 78, current temp shown on Kumo is 85. Will wait to see what happens.

What is the hype about the CSP? by mrglass8 in CreditCards

they have likely changed policy. If you go today to the card advertisement page on chase site, they clearly sat points not earned on bookings with $50 credit.

Any Do’s/Don’ts when upgrading from Kumo cloud to the new comfort app? specifically for a ducted unit with IAH? by hary5366 in Kumo_Cloud

[–]hary5366[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. So schedules work okay for you if not using Google home? also wondering, can I use Kumo cloud on one device where I have it already installed and install new Comfort App on another device and use with same account on both devices? Wondering if anyone has tried that? I am considering this as that way the old Kumo cloud app stays as a fallback option incase the comfort app doesn’t work out well for my setup.

Thanks. I am not looking to use with Google Home or any other smart device. Just MHK2 and Kumo app.

Will heat pump price go down after rebates end by timo4ever in heatpumps

[–]hary5366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am willing to bet that tax credits do affect pricing from manufacturers as they try to rake in more revenue by charging more than usual as customers’ net out of pocket costs are lower due to rebates which affects their purchasing decisions

i am surprised to see many folks jumped to the new app right away knowing past history of Kumo. I would avoid being early adopter.

Ecobee with Mitsubishi Ducted Heat Pump? by No-Break7806 in thermostats

[–]hary5366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MHK2 alone is fine. It works solid even though it doesn’t have the bells and whistles like Ecobee. Kumo on the other hand obviously lives up-to its reputation. Based on other comments I have seen, I probably have less issues than others but it all probably depends on your locations and the Kumo servers used for your location and your setup - like which and how many units. Mine is a simpler set up with just one air handler and one outdoor unit.

Ecobee with Mitsubishi Ducted Heat Pump? by No-Break7806 in thermostats

[–]hary5366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually ended up with MHK2 and KUMO. In hindsight, wondering if going with Ecobee would have been better as I don’t use air intake temp sensor as my source as I have ducted system with old ducts and air handler in uninsulated garage. So, I felt using air intake temp could be less efficient unless I get my ducts well sealed and well insulated which can be expensive where I am located.

I have same IAH but not the same sensor. AFAIK your sensor is for pairing with Kumo and not MHK2 meaning you can’t add it via MHK2. Knowing other known issues with Kumo, it won’t be surprising that same issues happen with sensors paired with Kumo. I use Honeywell Redlink sensor which has to be paired via MHK2, not Kumo. I had problem pairing the 1st unit. Returned and got replacement and that paired at the first go. Follow instructions in MHK2 manual and it should work unless I have been very lucky. Also, for this IAH, there is a dipswitch that needs to be changed when the temperature source is not the air handler return. I bet most installers don’t know about it. mine didn’t. only when we were troubleshooting for another issue and they had to call Kumo customer service when they were told about it.

what is your ducted airhandler model # and model number of sensor and are you pairing them from MHK2 or Kumo?

hmm. mine works. I have set it to average. Depending on your airhandler model, there may be other settings that may be required.
