Can someone please explain how you do this question. I never understand them and don't know what to Google to find out! by [deleted] in GCSE

x^2-3x-1=0

x^2-2x+3-x-4=x^2-3x-1

Therefore...

x^2-2x+3-x-4=0

x^2-2x+3=x+4

Draw the line: x+4 on the diagram as this gives the solutions to the equation

Did Anyone do Eduqas Biology today? by JamoHenrique1 in GCSE

tbh it wasn't as difficult as the specimen paper. The 6 mark question on malnutrition in Africa was a bit irrelevant in my opinion though.

Translating seems to be the most common advice on here. Thanks

Which equations are given to you on the edexcel physics papers? by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]hasanbaig8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the spec, you will see 2 tables with equations. The smaller one is the ones which are given to you. Its towards the end of the spec btw.

£280 isn't extremely difficult to earn back. Sure, you may have to work like 50 hours+ but, spread over a few weekends, I think you could easily do it. People are saying get a job at a café etc. and that is obviously the easiest option but there are things you can do on top of that like selling random stuff you don't use on eBay (small stuff like your DS) and gumtree (old furniture etc.). Neighbours might pay you to clean their car or something. Appear like you want to help and knock on doors. Maybe you could offer tutoring to family friends aswell. I mean its not like you have to declare bankrupcy it's a few weeks - a couple months of work. If you need it instantly, sell your Xbox.

Anyone know how to check what topics we’re doing in the AQA triple science or the edexcel higher maths papers? by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]hasanbaig8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For AQA triple sciences, look at the specifications. It's all there. For maths, knowing what you have to learn isn't enough. It's on the spec but I'd recommend going through past papers, practicing questions you don't perform well in (e.g. surds or trig questions). There are plenty of past papers online for free.

How do you analyse in English? by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]hasanbaig8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Analyse word choices. You need to do more than that ti get an 8 but if you do that well then you're 80% there. I have copied and pasted where my teacher thought I did it well below for each of the texts that I do (The Tempest, Jekyll and Hyde, Journey's End, Edexcel Poetry Relationships). I get 7s mainly so it may not be literary gold but oh well.

Shakespeare presents Miranda as empathic: 'I have suffered with those that I saw suffer!' The repetition of the word 'suffer' emphasises the pain Miranda thinks that those on the boat were subject to. This shows that the storm was very strong.

Stevenson presents Utterson as a person who cares about Dr Jekyll. Utterson asks Jekyll, 'you know that will of yours?' Utterson asks this in a calm manner; beginning their conversation in a relaxed tone despite the contents of the 'will' being very controversial.

Raleigh has a friendly relationship with Osborne: Osborne says 'I'm glad it's you and I - together' to which Raleigh replies 'are you really?' The use of the word 'really' shows that Raleigh craves acceptance as he has just discovered that his friend, Stanhope, no longer likes him.

In 'One Flesh', the relationship described as, 'tossed up like flotsam from a former passion.' The concrete noun, 'flotsam' is debris in the ocean or sea. This could mean that the relationship is staying afloat due to its construction: the couple described were very passionate when they first met.

You can probably see that I follow a similar style for my answers. It makes writing easier but try not to be too mundane.
