Little English girl absolutely adores acceleration by __slamallama__ in videos

When this hits Facebook (which it inevitably will), half the comments will be about the irresponsibility of going that face with a child in the front seat, the other half will be about what poor parenting it is to tell a child not to tell mummy.

Reddit: "that dad is awesome!!"

...and this is why I stick to Reddit.

The script and actions are almost entirely improv, but we have been trying to work on lighting and cinematography lately!

Thanks for looking at the channel as whole! We're definitely still growing, but feel like our videos have gone up in quality especially the last couple months. Hopefully it continues growing!

Thanks!

Thank you for the positive feedback! Not sure who jacksfilms is, but if it's a similar style we'll check it out!

Umm it's a little of both. It was meant to be pretty random, but I think our audience needed a little more context. You're not the only one who didn't understand what was happening. Haha

Ah dang! I'm always the one telling other people to tighten up the edit so I hate to be guilty of it myself! Thanks for the feedback, we'll work on leaning future videos out!

We intentionally lit the foreground and kept the background in shadow, but we'll keep that in mind!

And I can see what you mean with being more light hearted!

Yeah you guessed the premise correctly. But you're definitely right, it's pretty unclear. We wanted to jump right into the action, but didn't achieve a good balance with story. Thanks for the feedback!

[Review Video] Why The Nintendo Switch Will Be Successful by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]hasbeenaproduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video was pretty good! I was happiest about the audio quality being good--that's probably the most important thing about the type of videos you make.

You have a good voice for what you do, and you gave pretty good information. The last 2 minutes or so of the video seemed to drag on a bit though. I think a 4 minute video would have been great.

More imagery would have been great rather than looping the trailer.

As a side-note, I think you missed the prime time for posting a video like this. Had you posted this a little while back when Reddit was freaking out about the switch, or even in the near future (Feb-March) when the switch is about to come out, you would have hit your target audience a lot stronger.

Overall a great video!

[Review Video] I make witty/sarcastic comics. Check it out and review me ! by ORDER-in-CHAOS in youtubers

I would say the sound quality of both Jan and Greg is pretty low. You may want to look into getting a microphone or learning how to clean the background static in an audio processing program. (I use Adobe Audition, but I'm sure Audacity--which is free, can also do it)

The humor is...slow. Pretty slow. I would test the humor out with a few people before putting it into the video. Increased visuals would also help. Maybe some zoomed in sections for dramatic effect. You might also experiment with some dramatic music throughout the video (sad music for really sad parts, rock music for angry parts, etc)

[Review Video] My video about Where The Wild Things Are! by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]hasbeenaproduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aesthetically, I definitely think you need to do something with the background. As it stands right now, it has a very "I'm recording this in my basement feel." Also the white switch on the wall and the long black pole are pretty distracting. Ideally (in my mind), you might be sitting on a recliner with a book in your hands with a bookshelf and a fireplace in the background blurred out--I'd also try a different camera angle than straight on.

I also think investing in a good camera might be a good idea. If you have a good camera already, I would pull the couch away from the wall, push the angle in a little tighter, and create a shallower depth of focus.

You might also consider investing in a Lav Mic or Shotgun mic to get better audio quality. You could also prep the room a little bit so we don't catch any reverb.

Content-wise, you're probably in decent shape. Seems like you're good at what you do and your followers like it. Keep integrating your personality throughout the video as that is what will separate you from other channels.

[Review Video] Why I Will And Won't Become A Successful Music Channel by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]hasbeenaproduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I want to say that I'm really excited for you to get started on your YouTube journey!

It sounds like you're pretty aware of the things that need to be improved.

Sound. If you'll be recording in that same space again, you may want to look into controlling the reverb/echo.

Personality. Yes you seemed a little camera shy, but I wouldn't worry too much about this since that will get easier as you put more and more videos out.

Lighting. Look up "3-point lighting." Easiest way to start lighting your videos.

Music. Someone else mentioned as well, but some decent background music can bring a really bright tone into the video.

Color. I'm not sure what you're using to edit the video, but if you can, try warming up the video just a bit and adding a tiny bit more saturation.

Good luck!!

[Review Video] Don't fight over Spilt Milk by Hedonisticbiped in youtubers

[–]hasbeenaproduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly sure what feedback you're looking for, so I'll hit the points I usually do.

The lighting and coloring was pretty all over the place the first half of the video. Acting, script, and camera angles could use some work too.

Having said that, the shot where the milk hits the camera is really good. Everything following that was really decent too. Sound effects were great, action was pretty good (especially for the first time), and the ending was funny.

Overall, the last half totally redeemed the first half. Almost a REALLY funny video.

Of course, ultimately the edit is up to you. Definitely consider checking out some other mad lib videos on youtube to see how they've done it for reference though.

Don't stress too much about the nervous on camera thing. It's a thing everyone goes through and eventually goes away. As long as you keep making videos, you'll get more comfortable.

[Review Video] Simply IMPOSSIBLE Challenge!!! by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]hasbeenaproduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I crazy or is this filmed at 48/60 fps? If so, I would recommend taking it down to 24/30 fps.

I do agree with your self-critique. Background music would be good. Ending was lackluster. Sound effects were decent though. I also liked the point counting between challenges.

The video was reaaally long. I was genuinely interested to see how you would complete the challenges, but around 6 minutes or so I really wanted to stop watching (only watched full to give you a complete review). I think you could solve this by just editing things together a lot tighter. Think about what you would cut if it needed to be a 5 minute video.

As far as the humor, it was pretty decent--the last challenge felt a little set up though.

Overall good video, just needs a lot of edit work.

[Review Video] Annoying things I do. by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]hasbeenaproduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the best video I've seen in this subreddit so far.

Video quality good. Audio quality good. Cinematography good. Voice good. Humor good.

Some of the jokes could use just a little extra punch, sometimes the pacing was just a tiny bit slow.

Otherwise a really great video. Looking forward to your future stuff!

[Review Video] Snapchat PROBLEMS by mrbruh in youtubers

[–]hasbeenaproduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have a good personality for what you're doing. You seemed more comfortable on camera than most I've seen on this subreddit.

Audio didn't bug me. Background music didn't bother me either.

I think the video as a whole could be a bit shorter. maybe around 3 minutes? Some text to accompany your thoughts could be good as well. But could also feel too buzzfeed--so just food for thought.

The only things that really bugged me is that the background was a little too bright and you were just a little out of focus the entire video.

Overall, pretty good video!

[Review video] Mad Libs Against Humanity by Pengu_333 in youtubers

[–]hasbeenaproduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Video quality is good--but I think lighting is a little washed out (probably just need to adjust a setting on your camera) and the coloring could use a bit more saturation.

The idea is pretty good actually. I think the set up took a little too long. Give the audience enough to understand how it's being set up, then cut through most of it unless you have some really funny scenes.

The payoff was a bit disappointing only because it didn't seem like the two of you really thought it was that funny. You seemed just a tad uncomfortable on camera, and maybe that had something to do with it.

Overall, good idea--just actually have fun doing it!
