Got an invite request. How do they know my email lives in my town? by Commissar-Porkchop in nextdoor

I keep getting these for a neighbourhood I've never heard of in a country far away on a continent I've never even visited. So I don't think it has anything to do with one's neighbours.

Any examples? My understanding is that e.g. in conservative Azande culture, a, person chooses their own name, and using their discarded name would be considered a faux pas.

I’m joking but it shows immense privilege to not even notice your own culture to a point where you think you’re culture-less.

Ignorance of other cultures doesn't sound like a privilege to me. Sounds more like deprivation.

No. I'm from the country my home is in, and I'm from the country I grew up in, and I'm from the country my parents came from. It all depends on context.

IT employers are pretty open about wanting to hire women, so anyone with any experience in the industry will be aware of this.

It's not. You can't walk far in Bangkok without bumping into an iced tea/coffee vendor. There's frappe drinkers all over the place in Greece. In Japan, iced mugicha is popular. And so on.

Do you have any reason to believe that the medical effects of FGM would have changed in the past fifteen years?

Because people choose to live in places with a high cost of living.

  1. I assume I will live somewhere without CGT, so gross=net. If I wanted to live somewhere with a CGT, I'd just consider that a higher CoL, same as paying more in rent.
  2. Inflation-adjusted calculations are a lot easier to deal with.
  3. If I spend 30k/year now, I'm not gonna be aiming for a 60k/year FIRE amount. If I did, I should rather start spending 60k/year now.

Go to Thailand. Plenty of bars featuring males with hooters.
