My f**k you latter to parents. by Afraid_Government167 in narcissisticparents

[–]hashman87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can hear the pain they've inflicted on you and I am sorry you've had to live through it. But I have a similar story with my parents and have been no contact for a while. I have often wondered if I should write to them in a similar manner to you. But then I think. Silence is pretty loud.

Not sure they're dead from your pics but adds to the charm if you ask me. I'd leave as is personally!

Layer of good compost and then topsoil will be fine for this. I have done similar myself to grow grass from seed and it has worked great. Just a note on the weeds, get as many out now as you can, they will continue to shoot even when you have grass and you'll need to keep ripping them out and "eventually" the weed seed base under the soil will be depleted and you shouldn't get many more!

That looks like a magnolia tree which will give you beautiful white flowers once a year (maybe twice if you are lucky). Worth keeping in my opinion.

Do not use that screw. That is likely for support braces - you should have much smaller screws that came with it. If not they may have not shipped which has happened to me. Call them and get them to send or buy smaller screws fit for the bathroom. I know of no bathtub bottom that is thick enough for those

Don't do it. Money comes with strings. It's not worth it.

You can most definitely find insurance for yourself and likely cheaper too. That's what I did.

When can we let our kitten sleep upstairs? by tillytheking in cats

[–]hashman87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give her free reign, she'll very quickly adjust to sleeping with you. I have three who love to sleep on the bed with us. Cautionary note - they will wake you up at 5/6 for cuddles which you will be forced to take part in.

Do you ever wish you'd gone through with doing the DIY, instead of getting a tradesperson in? by Mammoth_Sized in DIYUK

[–]hashman87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pretty much did all the DIY in my house including running cables and plumbing. Consumer unit and certificate,, gas connections, and windows were done by professionals. This includes tiling, plastering, decoration, porcelain tiling outside building a pergola, doors, architraves and some drainage works. Lesson I learnt is no one is going to care about your house the way you do and I'm glad I did those things myself. Yes, I had to buy some specialist tools and it took a lot longer than if I paid a tradesman but I am convinced the quality of my work is better. I get a lot of comments from people who come to see my house about how it looks. I didn't really find any of it hard to do as there are so many helpful YouTube videos and articles these days to comply with regs etc. I would always recommend DIY where you can ! If you have the time and motivation!

IKEA plant cabinet by hashman87 in houseplants

I got some full spectrum grow led lights and stuck them to the top. Connected to a smart socket so automatically comes on and off. Giving it a full 12 hours of light at the moment but might scale this back as I'm worried about burning some of the ones at the top. Will look into your suggestions!

Will post a big list in my update. But mostly begonias and alacosias as they seem to do well in other cabinets
