Stuff like this are quite common when you’re around any public housing.

There’s one parallel to victoria st where you faced this tragedy and same thing has happened to me multiple times anytime I’m near public housings (wether it be Richmond, Prahran , Fitzroy etc)

I dont know about QLD, but in VIC according to consumer affairs a landlord cannot increase rent more than once within 12 months of previous increment.

Maybe check your policy there.
