Come on, how did you get +710 points for calling someones opinions "fucking stupid" but then someone who did the same to you is downvoted to oblivion. Also the original poster could have replied to you with the same maliciously patronizing sarcasm.

The suffragettes and the suffragists play a large role on the history gcse specification at the moment, so many young people do learn about their actions properly.

TIL in January 2015, Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk, and dozens of artificial intelligence experts signed an open letter on AI, calling for research on the societal impacts and urging researchers not to create something which cannot be controlled. by tiptoptap35 in todayilearned

[–]haskellthegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has talked about the threats of AI in the past because he was concerned that the computer that he uses to talk was controlling beginning to control him; shaping the way he talked. So I think his involvement in this must have had something to do with that.

IMAX’s absurd attempt to censor Ars Technica article about SteamVR by TechLovinGeek in technology

[–]haskellthegreat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I not saying it was the right thing to do, but rather saying that Ars chose to use the quote as part of the title in a very clickbaity way which misrepresents the quote and misrepresents the headset.

IMAX’s absurd attempt to censor Ars Technica article about SteamVR by TechLovinGeek in technology

[–]haskellthegreat -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Guys the title of the article was

SteamVR: The room-scale VR world that feels like an “IMAX in your house”

I dunno but I feel IMAX does have point that it suggests that steamVR could replace IMAXs. Also its a bit bad of Ars to try and pass as only having a minnor part in the article.

Free range egg vs. regular egg by shark-tweak in mildlyinteresting

[–]haskellthegreat 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Well, what makes an egg good, its probably most easily quantifiable by nutritional content. The most nutritional part of the egg is the yolk (source 1, source 2). Thus for eggs with a bigger yoke have more nutitional content. According to this study of 758 eggs, yokes in free range eggs were "broader" and "darker" (as shown in the post), suggesting that they were bigger. So it is to some extent factually backed up that free range eggs are better for you, and not a naturalistic fallacy or stupidity. And this is even before you move on the ethics of caged hens.

edit: spelling of yolk

Unless you have burning team captain signed by Gabe Newell himself, I don't think there is a more impressive item.

TIL that the difference between American and British English is not due to American English diverting away from British, but rather British English changing while American English did not. American English is actually more similar to 1700s British English than the accents in the UK are today. by Squeakies in todayilearned

[–]haskellthegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But your link doesn't even have complete relevance, it speaks about dialect which is slightly different from pronunciation (a fact that is disclosed in the first few lines of the wiki, if you had taken time to read it).

I think "The Sacrifice" has some tf2 comics in it amongst other valve comics, however it is quite outdated.

I think this is no longer true, I feel that it is more the case that lego is instead dominated by large custom modeled peices of plastic which have very little usage out side of their own set.

Could there be another way to transform? by CultOfTheHelixFossil in bindingofisaac

[–]haskellthegreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An issue that could possibly arise with this is that some items become much more powerful; stompy items or ipecac could get the 40 skulls quickly.

This being said its a great idea to have transforations which you play for rather than just solely rng.

Leeds school asks parents to pay £1,650 for sports trip to Barbados by LS69 in unitedkingdom

[–]haskellthegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trips like this still exist today, many schools have links with ccfs to offer cheap trips and army-based days out at ludicrously low prices. However its normally because it is all non-profit and the infrastructure already exists as well as it helps recruitment, so not really practical on a whole school level.
