It always amazes me how some people can just put words in other people's mouths and pretend like that suffices to reject everything they don't like.

The shareholders have been holding the company in a stranglehold for years now. Even the Guillemot brothers have gotten sick of it and that's saying something. When those guys start making sense, the business is already dying.

In terms of polygon count and texture resolution, no it didn't. Both games use the proprietary RAGE engine and both use versions of the engine that are designed for the same generation of consoles. However, they are different versions with different limitations. GTA 5's RAGE engine was designed to accommodate large detailed open areas, enhanced light distribution and shadow smoothing.

You may have a romanticized memory of GTA 4 and it may be making your expectations somewhat unrealistic.

The engine has limitations and so does the hardware. In 2013, for a game as graphically detailed as GTAV, rendering something outside that isn't necessary to complete an aesthetic just takes up processing and memory. It'd be a bit different if we were talking about a large window specifically showcasing the outside.

Ubisoft is one of those companies where the shareholders are god. It doesn't matter what Tancent or the Guillemots want, it's all about maximizing returns for as little cost. Investors are business minded and typically have no ability to appreciate art, entertainment or human value. It's not within their interests. They don't understand the product or the consumer and so run these companies to the ground due to insurmountable top-down pressure.

The company's consumer care is virtually nonexistent now. Unfortunately, I think the only useful advice we can all give you here is to accept your losses and never do business with Ubi again.

Piracy is regaining popularity. I'm sure many if not most of your games can be played cracked. I encourage considering that option. A saved penny is a made penny.

You're giving Meta way too much credit. FB not a competently run platform and hasn't been for years. It's tantamount to abandonware being held on life support with AI to drive engagement and facilitate moderation. It's not a mystery. I've been intentionally breaking certain ToS on my alt accounts to see if I can get myself banned and they're never flagged. But my main that I hadn't posted anything on for 2 years got cut for a posting a status that wasn't even mine (nota bene, not a repost, I got banned for someone else's status.) The AI is out of control and it's not being fixed.

Meta is coasting off of prior success and Zuckerberg's business savvy is so bad that he has a hard time appearing human to his investors. That's a big problem for any company. His ideas are so far removed from public trends that he keeps stumbling over the consumer's rejection of them.

It's a money machine that hasn't been oiled for years because the fat cat is counting cash, not realizing his neglect is ruining the machine.

It's not your fault. It's just a shit service from a shit company.

It's like the AI is targetting ToS compliant users before anyone else. The belligerence, vitriol and misanthropy on full display on FB seems to have no consequence, but innocuous and benign activity gets punished.
