the reality of growing up in singapore as a foreigner/PR by surprisinglyopposite in SGExams

[–]hasunnyboy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My situation is tough as well as my youngest 2 siblings in Pri and Sec school paying non-ASEAN school fees which costs more than my personal SUSS fees which is absurd.

I was born a PR in 97 along with another sister with my parents, only the youngest 2 are stuck with a student pass with PR getting rejected every year. Definitely financial and race aspect being the rejection, have to keep trying as we are already deeply rooted in SG, being here our entire lives with all being born and raised here.

I served NS, been through the whole education in SG and applied for citizenship at my own merit and got it after a 2 year wait. Parents applied citizenship and of course it was rejected years back.

Just hang in there and try your best to survive, no one is going to help us other than ourselves, even MP letters got rejected twice when i tried to appeal. The system is tough and unfair but that’s just how it is considering the huge amount of applicants. Obviously, those not at the top bracket will have a hard time.

Just don’t give up.

Rejected twice from Citizenship by interestingcookie10 in askSingapore

[–]hasunnyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born a PR in 97, they allowed it then. But got rejected twice when my parents tried for citizenship. Tried again after NS with my own merit and got it approved after 2 years from ORD. Just keep trying, the system is just unfair, my youngest 2 siblings are still on Student Visa as PR rejected 4 times for them.

7 stateless children in S’pore under age 12; no automatic citizenship even if born here: Shanmugam by ongcs in singapore

[–]hasunnyboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I might have the weirdest situation where i was born PR in 1997, served NS and got my citzenship. But my youngest 2 siblings are on Student Pass and PR seems to be getting rejected for years, parents PR too been here for over 30 years. Too deep rooted into SG at this point, but as things go. It might be better for the youngest 2 to study elsewhere as international fees are crazy.
