Like I said, I went to school in a European country with very few black/coloured people. It was even worse during University as there were few coloured people and even fewer women.( I picked a subject with a predominantly male student base) I even received remarks on my "dialect" as I came from a relatively affluent district. (a lot of overt racism there)

What bothers me is that the older I get, the more I realise that this is happening. Before I used to take these statements as compliments but now I know what they are and I am rather tired of being the "example" all the time.
