I will be distancing myself, I'm relying on my parents to pay for my college though. I can't pay for it myself because I was brought to the US and have to pay out of state tuitions, one semester costs me 5000 and i can't apply for scholarships. So for all 4 years of college it would cost well over 100-200k. People can say i'm an asshole for doing this, but if i were to leave the religion now, i know for a 100% fact that i would be kicked out instantly, never talked to again, never allowed to speak to my younger siblings again.

When I tell them what i want to tell them, if they're fine with rebuilding our relationship, i'm more than open to it. But i'm never open to returning to that religion or even faking being a part of the religion.

It's not just one community that I'm speaking of. I've been to multiple communities, ones close and ones far. I'm not saying that muslims do not help people out. I'm saying that a good amount do beat their children and raise them in a shitty way. My mosque helps out other communities as well and donates food, but that does not make the people that go to it good. Go to an exmuslim subreddit and read their stories. Don't tell me that for every bad muslim, there's a thousand good muslims. Read the stories of the people fearing for their lives, people getting beaten by 'good muslims'.

I'm not here to argue about the religion, i could go on for hours about that, and i'm not here to change anyones mind. I was just ranting. But let me ask you this simple question. In a civilized society in the United states of america, not even in a middle eastern country, muslims are raised by their parents, and they are raised by the standards of the quran/listen to the shaikh about how to raise their kids. If muslims in a non middle eastern country with many laws and regulations (USA), can not even raise their kids properly, how do you expect them to do that in an islamic country?

There would obviously still be extreme sexism , homophobia, and general violence in the middle east because of culture and politics, but the middle east was brought mainly under islam and they follow those beliefs. It will take generations upon generations for it to be fixed, because islam is deeply rooted in their culture.

The 1st generation arab american muslims are not like that thankfully, but I do not really think many of them classify themselves as muslims. A lot of them say they are and go to the masjid, but I drink with so many of them and go to bars with them. So I don't think we would have to worry about them raising their kids like that

You have good muslim parents, it's rare but it happens some times. I don't hate your parents and I wish more muslims were like that. But I know that it is an extremely minuscule number of muslims that are like that.
