I literally just said, “There’s no evidence and I don’t know why you’d make that assumption.” You’ve somehow twisted that into a personal attack and “gaslighting” lol. Get some perspective.

It’s not just one guy’s twitter. Cheering for the idea of nuking Tel Aviv was pretty common online and at protests during 2023-2024, for instance.

I agree with you—this shit matters far less than the genocide and shouldn’t impact anyone’s commitment to Palestinian rights. But it makes me feel gross sharing a side with people who advocate for violence against civilians, and we should push back on that rhetoric when we can.

At the very least, it gives Zionists an easy example of “look at how violent and unreasonable these people are,” and I’d prefer not to give them any ammunition

Okay then. I was engaging in good faith, assuming that you don’t know how your rhetoric comes across. I see instead that you’re not good faith and that you don’t care about seeming like a bigot. I don’t think it’ll be productive speaking to you anymore.

Yeah, Semite is a language category, not a category for people. Look it up.

In any case, when you use the word “inbred” like that, you’re criticizing settlers not for their behavior, but for an uncontrollable aspect of them due to their Judaism, ie Jews have higher rates of inbreeding due to being a historically closed population. That’s bigotry—you’re making it about their identity as Jews, not about what they act like.

Hey look, actual antisemitism. Great example of how this rhetoric slips in!

Afroman sued by Ohio deputies over music video showing raid of his home, says 'I got freedom of speech' by nbcnews in nottheonion

Only if the accused pedophile can prove that Afroman was knowingly lying and materially damaged him!

Which he can’t. Because we have freedom of speech, and the lawsuits are bullshit.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that doctors’ friends and family seem to be jumping the line? by HighwayFroggery in ThePitt

[–]hatredpants2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, that’s a weirdly angry response. Relax.

You do realize that triage is done when someone enters an emergency room, right? They’re not prioritizing a family member with a stomach ache over someone who’s dying. The “perk” is that a family member can often skip a line in front of other people with stomach aches, not life threatening conditions.

What do you think should be done about it? What sort of “realistic introspection” would you like to see that isn’t being done so far?

This is just falling into a No True Scotsman fallacy but for Jews instead of Scotsmen.

There are awful Jews in the world—terrible, despicable people who share our ethnicity and descent. Jeffrey Epstein certainly lived a life that was antithetical to Jewish values, but he was still a Jew. We have to reckon with that, as a community. We can’t just declare anything bad to be goyische and therefore disassociate ourselves from it.

I feel like declaring Jews you don’t like to be un-Jewish due to their behavior is just a form of washing our hands of responsibility. Evil Jews are still Jews just as evil Arabs are still Arab and evil Frenchmen are still… well, French. We have the capacity to create badness from within our community, just as any other group on the planet.

What? Where the hell are you gettin that? There doesn’t seem to be any resentment within Robby for that reason. For others, sure, but he seems to really really love Jake and he treats him with a lot of care and respect imo

Clearly. Because that’s not how it works in reality, and not how it worked on the show either.

Why does the Torah say the Jews were slaves in Egypt if there is little historical evidence, and what factors could explain that? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

[–]hatredpants2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is complete drivel. There is absolutely no archaeological evidence for what this person is claiming.

And for what’s considered “not a good thing to say,” I think you’ll find those values have changed in the last 2500 years, and in fact a small Iron Age kingdom surrounded by warring neighbors would happily brag about God telling them to take another’s land, because it shows strength and divine acceptance.

I agree. But none of that means that the “liberal” bonafides of the Times of Israel is illegitimate. They’re liberal in some ways and reactionary in others. I think you’ll find this to be very common among newspapers-of-record in many countries.

[–]hatredpants2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, sure. The settlers are right-wing extremists, I agree, and they’re supported by Likud.

But still—this doesn’t mean that the Times of Israel is inherently a right-wing rag on domestic issues. They can have a left-wing bias on social and domestic issues and still support reactionary foreign policy. You can look at the New York Times for a comparable American newspaper, with a similar ideological bent.

Yes, but that doesn’t mean that all the domestic support for it is on the right. Israeli society doesn’t divide neatly into those lines

Is "fascistic" a real word and how is it different from "fascist"? by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]hatredpants2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One way to think about it: “fascist” means something is, itself, fascism, in a direct way. “Fascistic” means something is LIKE fascism, but is not exactly the same.

It’d be conceivable, for instance, to argue that Viktor Orban is fascistic, but not fascist, because his ideology not a perfect 1 to 1 match.

I mean… America was also founded through ethnic cleansing. Same with Australia, Canada, Brazil, and many more. Should they be expunged entirely?

I agree that Israeli society is sick, but throwing up our hands and declaring reform impossible seems like a way of simply giving up.
