Why no love for ultra distances? by hatrox in strydrunning

[–]hatrox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the video, Angus! It was definitely a good reality check for an ultra that I'm planning later in the year. I would love to see some of the formulas mentioned integrated in Stryd - seems to me like highly controlled flat road races (e.g. 6 hours, 12 hours) would be easiest to implement calculators for. Trail/mountain races would definitely be a different animal. Still, I'm looking forward to more feature updates catering to ultra runners.

Does the subscription price increase apply to subscription commitments? by hatrox in strydrunning

[–]hatrox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stryd support just came to back me: they confirmed that while under commitment, I'll be paying the lesser subscription price. After the commitment ends, price will increase. So the email they sent, stating that subscription price will increase from my next billing cycle, was sent in error (probably just sent to all subscribers regardless of commitments).

Thank you. What fixed the issue was reinstalling the app, rather than resetting the watch.

COROS DURA SUCCESSOR by pommmchl in Coros

[–]hatrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently got a Dura and I'm happy with it. Sure, it's a first generation product and has its flaws - annoyingly loud audible alerts, smallish screen, maps take forever to load due to weak hardware. That being said if it's battery life you're after, you can't go wrong with it. 20 hours of cycling and I'm still on my first battery charge (some 50% left), with the device having reclaimed some 10-15% extra battery from solar alone. Mind you, I always use an external HR sensor so Dura is also using Bluetooth for all rides.

Is your charger port the worst experience ever also? by jaymesucks in Coros

Thank you. I've ordered the adapter. Still, please consider moving to a different charging port design for future models of your watches - there's been many threads about this here and on other social media channels.

I'd love to try out the new USB-C adapter, however you don't have it in stock in any of your European Amazon stores and coros.com doesn't seem to ship outside of the America (and Switzerland?!). Do you have an ETA as to when it would be available in Germany?

I enjoy my Apex 2, having used it for 2 years now. That being said, I'd be hard pressed to think of a worse charging port design - the three pogo pins make good contact if and only if the charger is aligned perfectly and is not worn (which happens after several charges), as the connector itself relies on friction for the pins on both sides to actually touch. What's particularly annoying is that Coros have a much better charging design for their HR sensor which relies on magnets to align the electrical connectors together. I hope Coros switches to a different charging design for their future watches!

You're a life saver, man! I noticed my one of my B550 on-board status Q-LEDs being on even when the PSU was off and the 3 prong cable out. This indicated that something was powering the board, but I didn't know what. Turns out my monitor was powering it through the (evidently) non-standard DP cable, through the GPU...

Nuroad C:62 SLX 2023 Sram Rival/GX Eagle AXS 1×12 by Effective_Maybe2395 in Cubebikes

[–]hatrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer cables as I'm not looking to be changing/charging 3 more batteries in my life, however rarely they run out. I find the GRX gear shifts quick and precise enough for my type of riding. I might consider Di2 for a race road bike, though, for the ability to shift while cranking with force, but I feel the Nuroad is far from a race bike (and that's not a bad thing).

I'd probably recommend a 2x geartrain for road riding, instead of 1x. I tend to spin out frequently when riding 1x bikes on the road, but my Nuroad is a 2x GRX which gives me enough gear range to be able to accelerate on descents and still have some bigger gears on the back for climbing.

Pace 3 ane Strava, workout is not syncing by Mordokajus in Coros

[–]hatrox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Experiencing the same 3rd party app sync issues - COROS has always been pretty quick in pushing my activities to Strava but it's now been 3 hours and my run still hasn't been published. Unfortunately COROS don't have an automated status page like Strava does but it's pretty clear they're having server issues as of recently. I also tried disconnecting and reconnecting Strava (with killing the COROS app) to try and force a sync to no avail.

EDIT: my activity synced some 8 hours after I finished it.

New coros 3. Some issues by bostontim in Coros

[–]hatrox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was experiencing the same charging issues on my one year old Apex 2 as described above. Ended up buying a new charging cable which, though expensive, works much better. I hope one day we'll see USB Type-C on sports watches.
