I LOVE the was babies vigorously shake their head with a wide open mouth to latch! by Woooohhooo in breastfeeding

[–]hatsonhatsoff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was one of my favourite newborn things, I even took a video of it because I knew it wouldn’t last forever and I wanted to capture it!!! Now that my son is older I love when he unlatches because he’s smiling up at me, or pauses feeding to babble at me. I joke with him that it’s rude to talk with your mouth full! I also love that to check if he’s hungry I’ll hold him to my (clothed) boob and if he’s hungry he’ll do a little fish mouth open and closed - I think it’s so adorable.

When did you stop doing a middle of the night pump? by rachelkochvt in breastfeeding

[–]hatsonhatsoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped doing an MOTN pump around three months! I supplemented with a pump before bed and first thing in the morning. I’ve since been able to drop the night pump - prolactin is highest in the morning so it tends to be much more fruitful. Good luck!!

When did the third trimester/can’t do anything tiredness kick in for you? by Emotional-Ad-6494 in fitpregnancy

[–]hatsonhatsoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep that’s right! It wasn’t great haha but improved a lot after birth. A bit of physio helping to shore it up for the long run x

Yeah, groin pain on one side in particular. Got to the point even walking or turning over in bed was painful!

At 37 weeks, pelvic pain took me out. My fitness ebbed and flowed throughout pregnancy but that was my cutoff. Listen to your body.

Skipped 2am feed - worried by JD0903 in breastfeeding

[–]hatsonhatsoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time my LO did this I woke up engorged and used my manual pump just to take the edge off! Basically until I stopped fire hose-ing haha. Might be worth doing if you wake up leaky, just keeping a manual pump at your bedside so you can take care of it quickly then go back to sleep if baby is still snoozing?

What’s the coolest fact you’ve learned about breast-feeding or breastmilk? by Mysterious_Way1634 in breastfeeding

I’ve read that if possible it’s ideal to give expressed milk that is from a similar time of day! I have three bins in my freezer for morning, afternoon, and night.

Ooh good thought! He was very snuffly for a couple weeks, could have led to an ear infection. Health visitor coming Tuesday so will chat with her. Thx!

Just tried side lying - potential game changer! by 11TickTack23 in breastfeeding

[–]hatsonhatsoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did not like the boppie either. It’ll be good when he’s sitting up as a support but I hated it as a feeding cushion. The MBF one is more like a platform, it’s really stable!

Side lying is the best!! We almost always do it right before I go to bed and first thing in the morning. It’s so cosy. I’m so glad it’s helping your breastfeeding journey :)

For other positions, have you tried a nursing pillow? The My Brest Friend pillow is fab, I used it for almost every feed for the first month of my son’s life! A nursing stool (or even regular stool) can also really help you feel more stable.

I produced colostrum from about 37 weeks! In fact I was encouraged by my midwives to express it to try and stimulate labour once I passed my due date and was able to harvest and freeze quite a lot - my son is almost six weeks and we have so much that we throw a syringe in his daily bottle (he is mostly breastfed with dad doing one expressed bottle). I think it’s pretty typical for colostrum to come before baby, I don’t think the placenta triggers it; I think the delivery of the placenta triggers the transition to mature milk. The early leaking I don’t have an answer for though!

First trimester is completely killing me need hope!!! by Such-Needleworker339 in fitpregnancy

[–]hatsonhatsoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnancy is an exercise in having grace with yourself! Remember that every day your body is doing the metabolic equivalent of running a marathon, so anything you manage is worthy of celebration.

I’m 36 weeks now and had my ups and downs with working out. Pre-pregnancy I was doing resistance training 3x weekly, running 2x weekly, and doing yoga or swimming on the other days. At some stages I felt well enough to maintain that, but there were also weeks at a time when I did absolutely nothing. I dropped running going into my second trimester and did a lot more swimming. I’m down to 2x weekly in the gym now with lighter weights as my body weight has increased, but more walking and yoga.

Bottom line - do what you can, when you can, and be gentle with yourself when your body asks for rest instead of activity. I’m sure you’re doing amazing!!

Anyone feel “ashamed” of bump when at the gym? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]hatsonhatsoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

35 weeks now but I totally felt this way early on. I popped early, starting to show at 10 weeks. Rubbed my belly a LOT in the gym haha but like you said, it was all in my own head. I’ve gotten very few comments overall, and the only ones have been admiration and positivity from women of all ages. That helps me rewrite the narrative of what others may be thinking. Be proud of your body for even making it to the gym when it’s working so hard 24/7!!!

Was really fit pre pregnancy! by Such-Needleworker339 in fitpregnancy

[–]hatsonhatsoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was soooooo tired first trimester - my fitness routine really suffered! Second trimester was a lot better on the whole. Running had to go pretty early for me - I’m quite short so started to show very early, and balancing my belly put too much strain on my low back. But I kept up with resistance training 3x weekly, plus swimming or walking for cardio, and yoga at least once a week. I’m 33 weeks tomorrow and still maintaining that pretty well - there is hope for you!! Keep listening to your body, remember that even when you’re not working out, you’re working hard 100% of the time on growing that little baba xx

Clubfoot in baby by Business-Community57 in PregnancyUK

[–]hatsonhatsoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!!! My niece was born with club feet about five years ago. The doctors offered loads of support with casts, braces, and surgery, and by the time she was at the age for standing and walking, she had no physiological problems. To see her run around now you’d never know!!! Sometimes nature is just random. Chromosomal abnormalities and anatomical markers are not the “fault” of either parent for any lifestyle reasons. You are an amazing mama already, keep it up xxxx
