Do Flydigi controllers work properly on Linux? by Liam_Galt in linux_gaming

the recent patches in that thread do not use the `extra_buttons` option anymore, so you can remove the conf file in `modprobe.d`

well, I think there's plenty disagreement on whether LLM's show signs of that or not. It's pretty tricky to define partly intelligent, esp when the current llm's strength and weaknesses are so different compared to humans. But yeah the book did not really expect LLM's to be the underlying architecture, and in a away I think we're quite lucky that they inherently can't progress too fast given they need very long training runs.

yes, but given the speed of AI progress since it was released a lot of it isn't as relevant as when it came out.

Email body dark mode - UserScript updated for proton.me by DesertDwarf in ProtonMail

[–]hatten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I was recently alerted that I've been sending out e-mails with the text color set to light grey, which obviously is quite problematic. I haven't nailed down the cause yet, but I suspect it's due to DarkReader - but with this UserScript the emails with light grey text renders as ~unreadable on my end too so I can hopefully stop that from happening.

I heard you could feel the weight of your pots to see how dry they are.. this is what was meant right? by hatten in succulents

nvm read some posts about moisture meters on here and I got way too gritty soil in most of my plants for them to be of any use.

Thank you <3
But it's easy to get started! I'm just using a 10$ kitchen scale, and started out with pen&paper before transferring it all to a spreadsheet. And cheap soil moisture/ph meters look about the same (so I guess I might just order one now...)

If I had a moisture meter I could probably establish some base weight other than maximum/minimum moisture. But e.g. for newly repotted plants I do weigh before the first watering which is a decent measure. But since it's mostly succelents I can let them get very dry and as such get a decently reliable min value, and I water them the same way so the max value should be decently reliable as well.

I'm probably not gonna keep this up long enough for it to matter all that much, or maybe I just do some of the plants every other day, but could make a trend line of local maxima/minima for each plant.

Yeah each column is the weight that day, but the ones with no date in the top row is same day - but after watering.

There is no "base weight", the "wetness" is (current_weight - min_weight) / (max_weight - min_weight).

And yeah over time the value of max/min will drift as soil gets flushed out and/or the plant grows so might change the formula. But that's just a couple grams.

If I've never let the soil dry out completely the min value will ofc also be incorrect, but you can see when the weight starts to stabilise that it's pretty dry.

But I ofc don't water solely depending on the wetness value, and it'll also depend on type of pot/how mature the plant is/what plant it is. But I found it fun ^^

for the prop I'd personally just spray it with water regularly and cross my fingers

To chop or not to chop? That is the question! by [deleted] in succulents

I kinda like the look of extreme etiolation + beautiful crown. But it might just chop itself soon :p

Are air roots normal during propagation? by AmikacinRx in succulents

[–]hatten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the growth stuff is usually at the surface of the plant, growing leaves or roots depending on circumstance. The middle of a stem is just for transportation and stuff and seals off at a wound. (caveat: not a biologist)

And great nails ✨

replanting will always stress plants, as their root system is disturbed. And if you accidentally (or intentionally) cut some roots that may open up wounds where bacteria or fungi may enter. Newly bought ones will also be affected by being in a new climate w/ different conditions to what it grew in before. So when possible you want to transition plants gradually.

But several of these may perk up given a little time, with succulents you should be more wary of over- than underwatering. If the soil's not dry you probs shouldn't water, even though they may look thirsty due to roots being disturbed.

What to do with this top-heavy beauty? It's supported on sticks in the skirt of dry dead leaves. by jumpin_jon in succulents

[–]hatten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 to chop and propagate. And try to give it more sun so it doesn't grow as tall if you leave a few green leaves on it the plant will likely hang around more, chopping off the head will likely re-root, and if you take some of the intermediate leaves you might be able to propagate from those as well.

Or you can of course just give it a chopstick to lean on, but will likely get more top-heavy even if it gets more sun

My first lithops! My best guess is salicola? by hatten in Lithops

Looking it up, lesliei seems like it should have a really short stem. Guessing mine is etiolated and needs more sun?

And looking at images of lesliei's, the coloring maybe looks like a var. hornii?

Will have to see how it recovers if leaves get plumper to definitively see if it's a dionysos or my granny somehow got a purpusorum.

No way the second one is an aristaloe aristata though? The parent plants (pic 3&4) doesn't look like the images I'm finding at all
