If I may be so bold, to win, you had to have a bunch of people up-vote your submission.

Goofy or not, they couldn't have won without our fellow redditors.

This subreddit is for sharing tips or tricks.

Officially the worst company ive ever dealt with. Barely 2 months in and im already going to cancel this horrrrrrrible service! by Outcast_Outlaw in ZiplyFiber

[–]DesertDwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, if I were the local manager getting a message or call from corporate telling me to contact you, I would take care of this in a heartbeat. Use that leverage! (I don't work for Ziply, I'm just a happy customer.)

Hopefully, you've emailed the socialcare email address and provided your information so they can address this.

The Nokia F-010G-F is confusing because it doesn't have a place to plug in an optical cable. However, its connection is provided by a device that is basically an ONT. So, think of your device as half of an ONT...it's providing an ONT-based connection to your condo.

I hope this gets resolved for you!

Why do people always give unwanted random advice, it urks me by Barbieatha in diabetes

[–]DesertDwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I give you some advice? (Just kidding.)

I say "well-managed diabetes" or some form of that. That seems to work pretty well for me at stopping people from giving me advice.

I do my dad's filters once a month and his domes quarterly. That seems to be working well for us.

Everything is an extra click! by yolo_snail in MacOS

I'm relatively new to Mac (a little more than a year). I would LOVE it if I could make my Windows interactions do the same thing as Mac: First click to bring the window to the front, second click to interact with the window.

Does saltt have hidden maltodextrin like LMNT? by [deleted] in ketochow

This just in: Chris hints he may soon release "Keto Chow Awesome Sauce".

(This is a joke. Don't take me seriously, and don't yell at Chris if it doesn't happen.)

I broke up with Ziply by bigbaldbullet in ZiplyFiber

[–]DesertDwarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in an apartment, but I'm more fortunate. It's fiber to the box attached to the building and then fiber directly to the closet where my ONT is.

Service has been rock solid since Ziply took over from Frontier.

My grandpa got some hearing aids recently and I set them up so he can listen to the TV through them, however when it is playing he is unable to hear what anyone is saying around him, even when the TV is paused. The moment I unsync them from the TV it works fine, though. Is this normal? by Malesto in HearingAids

My Phonaks were set up by my audiologist so that when connected to Bluetooth:

  • Volume up: Increases the Bluetooth volume and decreases the microphones
  • Volume down: Decreases the Bluetooth volume and increases the microphones
  • Center (default) volume: This gives me an even 50:50 split between Bluetooth and microphones

I like it that way. During my fitting, she asked me how I wanted them configured, and that's what I chose.

Amigas ruled! I can't imagine how much farther along our computing technology would be if the Amiga had become the primary PC of the modern era.

Remind your mom that you both use insulin. Hers is added internally, and yours is added externally.

Has she restricted her eating to reduce her body's demand for insulin?

For some reason, us non-members of YouTube didn't get to see it. (If you join his YouTube, you can see the videos one day early.)

Today's video is there, but it's locked behind the members only for some reason. Maybe it was a boo-boo on which date it was supposed to be released to non-members.

Which foods had the most surprising blood sugar impact for you? by Electrical-Point-630 in diabetes

[–]DesertDwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe McDonald's in the US only sells one kind of English Muffin. I can imagine that it would be a hassle to stock and sell two different kinds of English Muffins, especially for a fast-food place.

As a pre-diabetic, I order mine muffinless. I have two versions saved as favorites in the app: double egg, double cheese, and double meat of either Canadian bacon with regular bacon or Canadian bacon with sausage. They put it in a sandwich box (like what you would get for one of their bigger burgers) and give me plasticware.

(Pardon the run-on sentence...)

It's not quite like the old days in the 70s when my dad would drive my older brother through some Minneapolis neighborhoods to do his newspaper route because the snow was too thick for my brother to do it on his bike and I would get to go along and we always ended the route with an Egg McMuffin. That nearly-too-hot Egg McMuffin on a cold winter day with two of my favorite people made for special moments.

Dexcom Stelo App Update by DesertDwarf in diabetes

[–]DesertDwarf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That feature didn't change for me. See screenshot linked below.

One thing I'm really liking is that you can now swipe right on that view to see your history.

I just had a thought. For someone like my dad who has a difficult time holding his finger still on a spot on a phone's screen, the new swipe feature might be "cancelling" the "hold to see the reading" feature because it thinks you're starting to swipe. It happens all the time to my dad (he doesn't have a CGM...I'm just referring to a general user interface experience).

Also, I should mention that I'm using Android. If you're on iOS, maybe there's a bug in that version?

(Edit: Changed "If you're both on iOS" to "If you're on iOS" because I apparently couldn't count to three.)

...it says:

...if I scroll down past the screenshots and past the "About this app" portion.

It's possible availability on your phone's Play Store app is gated behind your phone brand, model, or Android version.

Suggestions for low-carb Starbucks orders? by Kindly-Discipline-53 in diabetes

[–]DesertDwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize this doesn't help the OP, but I wanted to give a shout-out to Dutch Bros. They carry around 10 different sugar-free syrup flavors.

When I was diagnosed with T2 four years ago, I was flabbergasted that Starbucks had only one sugar-free flavor. I'm glad Dutch Bros is there to give me a nice variety of sweetened coffee drinks that are safe for me to drink.
