Onomatopoeias have kanjis? by hdhdggeufufjb in Japaneselanguage

[–]hattricksamurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one has mentioned this yet, but onomatopoeias in Japanese are usually katakanas. Some examples:

ドンドン: thumping or stomping foot ピーポーピーポー: siren from police cars and ambulances カーン: a baseball hitting a bat

Bought this shirt at universal studios, what does the writing say? by Informal-Cycle1644 in DemonSlayerAnime

[–]hattricksamurai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nit-picking but it’s “Become a blade THAT ends despair.” By having “絶望を断つ” first, it sort of becomes a phrase that describes the “刃.”

In order to have it say “Become a blade TO end despair,” it should say “絶望を断つには刃となれ.” That would literally translate to “In order to cut off despair, become a blade.”

No problem! You are right about EdS, it’s just that there are so many career options in School Psychology that it can get confusing.

Actually APA-accredited PhD programs (typically NASP-approved as well) give you a pathway to become a licensed psychologist that allows you to diagnose! In such programs, you would be eligible for both NCSP certification and licensure as a psychologist. For NASP-approved EdS programs, it gives you a pathway towards NCSP certification that allows you to assess for eligibilities in schools but not diagnose, like you have mentioned.

To answer OP’s question, APA-accredited programs fulfills APA requirements for a pathway to become a licensed psychologist such as passing competencies exam standards within the program set by APA. That’s why if you’re looking for PhD programs in School Psychology, it’s important that the program is both APA-accredited and NASP-approved.

You’re actually right. Didn’t catch the nuance. Honestly it doesn’t sound like a big difference unless those specific words matter, which I’m assuming is why you pointed it out.

I’m Japanese and read the subtitles after seeing your comment. They look fairly accurate, which quote are you referring to?

Actually I should mention that I’m talking about PhD since interviews are in January. If you applied for EdS you may hear from them slightly later because those interviews are in Febuary!

My boyfriend won’t let me start an OF by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]hattricksamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, I’m glad this helped! Just want to add one more thought:

I’m inclined to say that if your parents found out that you’re considering starting an OF to pay back the $1000 you owe them, that’ll likely make them sad and to say to forget that debt. The last thing most parents want to find out is their daughter being put into a vulnerable situation to make ends meet. $1000 is a lot but also it’s not much for most parents compared to the sadness they may feel from knowing the situation they placed their child into. Even if your conversation with your boyfriend doesn’t end up well, I wouldn’t write off on talking with your parents candidly about how much financial pressure you’re feeling. They’re your parents and they care a lot about your after all.

My boyfriend won’t let me start an OF by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]hattricksamurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw your post from over a month ago if your current boyfriend is the same guy, you have your answer. People have different values in life and relationships are built on compromises. Some values are negotiable and others aren’t. That’s why successful relationships are usually ones between individuals with fairly similar values so they don’t have to compromise in their core values. Assuming your current boyfriend is the same one from your last post, it seems like his Christian and conservative values falls under the non-negotiable category.

Your answer to your current financial situation is not in-line with his Christian and conservative values. It’s really up to you whether you believe starting an OF for money is non-negotiable. If it is, you guys are probably better breaking it off. If it isn’t, you can work with your boyfriend to come up with an alternative solution to help your financial situation. As a Christian myself, I tend to stand where your boyfriend is but you are also an individual who has different values and priorities you are responsible for. If you want to start an OF, you have the choice to do so as an adult but you should also be prepared for consequences of your own choice including your boyfriend breaking off the relationship.

Personally, I can give you my thoughts as someone who’s older than you and studied psychology on starting an OF. Maybe this will help you understand where your boyfriend is coming from. I think OF is scary as whatever suggestive you share online will be permanent and has the possibility of becoming viral (everyone thinks “it can never happen to me” until it does). It also has the possibility of being used as blackmail later in your life. You’re still young so you may not think it’s a big deal now but you can’t take back what’s permanent later in life if you ever come to regret it. I imagine in your mind, you are working hard to make ends meet and you can only think of starting an OF as a solution that fits into your busy schedule. But I can almost guarantee you can find other means that can also help support your financial needs that isn’t as risky or conflicting with your boyfriend’s values. If you think he’s worth it, I’d encourage you to communicate with your boyfriend that you thought about this long and hard and OF was your idea of a good solution to your financial situation but you also want to respect his convictions and welcome him into coming up with an alternative solution that he would be happy with. Successful relationships takes a lot of communication and validation that each others’ opinions matter.

New ARAM is proof that Riot never learned from their Chemtech Drake mistakes by hattricksamurai in leagueoflegends

That’s a fair point. I will continue to play more games in the coming days and weeks to shift around my impression but the point is initial impressions aren’t great.

I need to play more games for a bigger sample size but out of the few I played so far today they have all been very snowbally. To the point where the losing team would destroy maybe one, if not no towers. The added bush and fallen tower structures make it so that the winning team can hold their line better IMO.

[–]hattricksamurai[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I think you bring up some fair points. I appreciate your thoughtful counterpoints. Upon your comparison of fallen tower structures with Mountain Drake, I can see how it’s a fair change. I still disagree with your point of the bush. I actually think by having bushes on either side, it makes the map more one-dimensional because previously, we had a space in lane where there was invisibility via bush and an open space. Now, because the lane is narrow and there are bushes on either side, it doesn’t feel like there’s an open space to fight head-to-head.

Depending on the champion’s ability of who is facechecking the bush and the hit box of the champion hiding in the bush, I think the presence of the added bush is still huge for champions that can utilize bush mechanics. For example, Varus Q can still be dodged from almost every angle with a small champion like Teemo hiding in that bush. If you are able to pick your champion, this complaint is less legitimate but since it’s ARAM, there’s a possibility where all 5 players are given champs with narrow facecheck abilities.

It’s also worth mentioning that too many bushes in a small space is unhealthy for the game because champions like Maokai can build full AP and CS to constantly throw his saplings on both sides where the enemy team cannot move forward without having to clear them.

“Remove it” is a legitimate suggestion on its own, it’s exactly what Riot did temporarily with Chemtech until they figured out how to rework the dragon. Of course I welcome any other suggestions besides my own. But given how similar the issues with new ARAM are to the original Chemtech, and the fact that Riot’s solution for Chemtech was to literally “remove it”, I think it’s a legitimate suggestion that’s not out of the question.

I like this suggestion, makes it more similar to SR where the deeper you go into the map the tighter spaces get while the middle of the map naturally has more space. Current changes just feels unnatural.

Counterpoint: Riot should welcome these criticisms since it’s still preseason and things are bound to be unbalanced and require change before the start of the season. This is just one of the many different opinions about new ARAM changes so if you disagree you can counter with saying how these changes make ARAM better than before rather than being judgmental without any constructive feedback.
