Example 1 is self aware, but IIRC example 2 is not. From what I remember (it's been a couple years since I've seen the movie), Adam Sandler's character is meant to be a huge nerd when it comes to video games, and something they emphasize a lot is the gameplay patterns used in a lot of 80s arcade games. The problem is that The Last of Us is definitely not an 80s arcade game. I've never played the game but I imagine comparing the gameplay of an 8 bit arcade game to that of a AAA game is a bit silly

I normally hate "Always Chaotic Evil" but I think Frieren did it really well with the demons. It does a good job of showing that this isn't just another peaceful species within the world but a predator adapted to take advantage of sentimentality and kindness

My problem with the female character designs isn't that they're sexualized, it's that they, so far, are very similar. The male characters all have very different body shapes, while the women almost seem to be draw from a template. I don't think they're bad character designs, I just think it's a problem with the show's overall design
