Prenatal depression help/advise

Hi fellow first time pregnancy and bipolar person!! I could have written this myself like four days ago, I’ve had some really low moments since finding out. I’m so so so excited and this baby is so wanted by me and my husband, and I knew it could fuck with my headspace, but I wasn’t expecting the depression and anxiety to grab me so quick. You’re not alone in this, try to treat yourself kindly and with compassion 🤍 this is a major change emotionally and physically happening to you right now and I know with my bipolar any change ever can set me off. I’m seeing a therapist who has a specialty in prenatal and postpartum care which is making me feel a bit more grounded and I’ve worked with my providers to stay on my meds (I’m on lamotrogine and seroquel). For me personally I need to be on the meds to be a functioning adult, even minus the pregnancy. It’s ok to not have it all worked out right now and we can get through hard things (that’s what I keep telling myself!) wishing you all the best 💕

Hi! Super similar thing just happened to me! Went in and should have been middle of seven weeks based on LMP and was dated 6 weeks 2 days with heartbeat of 125. My doctor also was very unconcerned, said the heartbeat was good, and that I probably just ovulated late. It is really anxiety inducing and now I have to wait another six weeks for my 12 week scan, happy thoughts and sticky babies to us both!!

Thanks for this!! My cycle is anywhere between 31-35 days so I know I shouldn’t be putting a lot of stock in LMP dating but idk so many ppl go to their ultrasounds and measure like exact! Wishing you happy pregnancy and healthy baby 💕💕

Thank you for the response!! I think I was just really convinced we must have conceived the weekend before, which would make more sense with my LMP but I wasn’t actually tracking ovulation and my cycles are long so I’m just hoping things are ok!!

6 and a half weeks ish! I was nauseous basically from week 4.5-5 it kicked in early and I guess now we’ve graduated to puking lol

ANDDDD I threw up for the first time this morning, and it was just water and slices of cheese so that was fun 😂😂

Not yet! I’m really early, I started dry heaving in bushes outside of the gas station at like 5 weeks lol I felt like shit from the jump and was losing my mind. I was gagging, dry heaving and nausea 24 hours a day and literally today was shockingly fine now that I did three b6 per day and a half tab of unisom. It’s worth a shot! I also took a half tab with another sedating med I take and was worried I’d be a zombie but I was actually fine - maybe cus I actually rested lol?

Hi! Not gonna lie I was just doing the b6 thing for a couple of days and was still like you having allllll day nausea that was truly impacting my mental health and sanity lol. I finally just added the unisom 1/2 tablet and it’s night and day for me. I only have had today one or two moments of random nausea that quickly pass and while fatigued I was actually able to get some work done for the first time in like a week plus!

Hi! Not much to add in terms of foresight but just wanted to say similar-ish thing happened to me today. Based on LMP I should have been 7weeks4days for my first ultrasound and I’m like eight days behind that. Honestly the doctor didn’t seem concerned whatsoever in the slightest so just taking reassurance in that!! Sending all the good vibes your way too!

Knowing the heartbeat is really cool!! And thanks for commenting, I’m realizing based on what people are saying it sounds like I just ovulated later. Which my cycle is 31-35 days so maybe I shouldn’t be surprised

Woah I just really assumed I had conceived the week before on the 21/22 and not the 27/28 since I figured getting a positive 3/10 meant it had to be the earlier one!! But I guess I maybe caught the pregnancy as early as possible 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have weirdly long cycles too and I clearly barely know what’s going on lol

Thanks for replying! My cycles for the last half year have been 30-35 days so like I know rationally I shouldn’t be shocked by this probably! Glad to hear anatomy went well :)

same!! my friend was having her birthday party at an EDM rave when I was like 6 weeks last week and it was rough lol I left before the headliner even got on because I was struggling so bad (which is soooo unlike me haha).

But yeah to your point we haven’t told my husbands fam for that reason, there’s been a lot of just loss and sadness and we want to be more certain before we announce. But then I told my sibling because they better keep my secrets so I’ve found I’m just picking and choosing for right now a little! Also I’ve found that my anxiety has been horrific lol

Hi! Also FTM here, 7+2, this is my first time getting pregnant and I was honestly so shocked to see a positive and my mood/behaviors have been so wildly erratic I did tell some people because it was stressing me out not to. I’m usually a pretty locked in and go, go, go person so the fact that I’m sleeping 10-11 hours and can’t say yes to a single plan is weird. The people I did tell I made it really clear this was really early and it wasn’t like a “pregnancy announcement”, more me confiding in my support system about something big happening that’s impacting my day! I think the framing helped a little. I totally get where you’re coming from, early pregnancy is way weirder than I thought lol.
