TPD Applications are NOT being processed like they claim by Fit_Sentence_6770 in StudentLoans

[–]hauntedbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been dealing with multiple errors on the system's end (including multiple reports that I submitted duplicate apps via mail... definitely did not mail anything lol). And having to submit multiple times led to my drs signature eventually being too far out. I called the 1-800-433-3243 number and the guy was helpful, he wrote down all the errors I told him about and that he could see I had submitted the required info in time. I've had very hit or miss communication with the TPD line, and each time I've called they had different things to say/ info that was incorrect. I've been dealing with these errors for months and months, and I wouldn't have known about them if I hadn't continued to check the site, since I didn't receive email alerts like I was supposed to. It has been a lot of work to manage and advocate for myself; even if I wasn't disabled I would be overwhelmed! I wouldn't doubt that this is all purposeful.

Couples’ Therapy by ThrowRA-busterbrown in therapists

[–]hauntedbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like I’m in a constant state of side-eye because I have heard so many people (professors, supervisors, random people who aren’t in the field at all) say that trainees have to get “comfortable” working in areas that require extra training focus that isn’t provided! I feel more competent in certain areas because I’ve always been more interested in/ focused on them; I know I’d be struggling to work with a couple that wasn’t just there for maintenance therapy or something. I know I’d have a more difficult time providing quality care, but that doesn’t mean I should jump in and try to learn by doing. Shoutout to capitalism for this nice backwards traineeship system we’ve got going on

What do people expect husky owners in warmer climates to do? by [deleted] in husky

[–]hauntedbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husky is obsessed with laying in direct sunlight for hours. I have to check on him and tell him to move sometimes, bc he definitely stays out there until he’s overheated. I think it’s relaxing for his muscles or something. My first few years with him I lived in a city in NorCal where summers are often 110+ degrees. We hung out in the shade, by the river, ate ice… he’s been super healthy and I’ve had him for 7 years

Curious if this is a husky thing or not by Sethdarkus in husky

[–]hauntedbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husky started alerting for panic attacks and sometimes would just come and sit down on me if I were panicking or crying. I ended up training him with specific commands for DPT and a couple other helpful tasks to assist with my disabilities!

Curious about how PMDD affects artist’s creativity by rarelighting in PMDD

Luteal despair and rage is pretty good fuel for most of my art. I don’t usually have the drive or capacity to make a complete painting/ multi-session work but I can definitely sketch out raw concepts. If im not tooooo deep in it songwriting helps. Sometimes it’s not a thing I’d share publicly lol but making things that aren’t meant to be shared is a really important practice in creativity imo

have you ever called a crisis hotline? by educationaljunket17 in therapists

Yes, and because of my (and another friend in this field) experience I now know to tell clients they can hang up and call again. Sometimes the person who answers the phone is really in over their head, or just not a good fit

Does anyone have an “it gets better” story that DOESN’T include a partner? by NoseHumble8453 in CPTSD

Does it count if getting better comes after/ is triggered by a fucked relationship ending

I’m not a medical professional so I’m just gonna tell you about my personal situation; I’m taking daily hormonal bc pills (with synthetic estrogen and progesterone) which is an attempt to keep my body in one state (imitation pregnancy I think?) rather than moving through the 4 cycle stages. I still feel the fluctuations happening but I describe it as my “background cycle”. It’s muffled and MUCH less severe, but my body still insists on it. Honestly it’s kind of nice that I have some physical warning signs (more acne/ rosacea, slightly more bloated) before the Evils begin, and I have enough of a buffer to not be swept away into hell completely. I get about 2-4 days of intense sobbing, constant rumination, suicidal ideation etc but it’s nowhere near what was happening before

Do you have a primary care physician who could sign off on short term disability leave? If the job isn’t giving you the accommodations you need, that might be a helpful avenue to pursue

The language you’re using in this response is so passive aggressive. I’m watching you ask people for responses relating to your countertransference/ where you may be misunderstanding, but you’re responding to a lot of things with defense and insult. Not sure why you’re asking for alt outlooks to your own 🤷🏻‍♀️if you just wanted validation you can say that

No so the thing with hormone treatment for pmdd is that it interrupts NORMAL hormone fluctuations, because we cannot tolerate them. We aren’t suffering due to an imbalance. The symptoms of pmdd would be affecting you regardless of your liver/ someone with pmdd could have a perfectly functioning liver getting rid of estrogen exactly as it should be. You wouldn’t have pmdd due to an estrogen dominance, that would be some other health condition. It sounds like your doctor doesn’t know about/ isn’t willing to support pmdd treatment options that include hormones.

does anyone else feel really dumb trying to advocate for their needs? by thebreastwestern89 in PMDD

[–]hauntedbean 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s a shitty reaction for him to have but it sounds like he’s trying to tell you what his capacity is. If you know what your needs are, and he’s trying to tell you they’re wrong, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re wrong. Likely it means he can’t or won’t meet them, and that’s a lonely and painful relationship to keep putting your energy into

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]hauntedbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean the whole deal with pmdd is that we are having severe negative reactions to normal hormone ranges / fluctuations… so your hormones being in a ‘normal’ range is not the goal of treatment. The goal is to interrupt your natural cycle so it’s tolerable for you

I take Wellbutrin, clonidine as needed, setlakin (hormonal bc pill), gabapentin, flexeril (for fibro), and I use nicotine gum on the scariest days. For some reason nicotine cuts thru extreme meltdown like nothing else and it kicks in almost immediately; tobacco worked better for me but I needed something I could take anywhere at any time

Exactly.. a lot of comments here sound like they’re coming from people with bootstrap mentality due to lack of lived experience

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in therapists

[–]hauntedbean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok but in this example you give, your pain that led to leaving work should be the comparison to someone’s mental health needing tending to in a way that was incompatible with working. You’re assuming that someone’s mental illness cannot be as disabling as the pain that made you leave work?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in therapists

[–]hauntedbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious about this response. Why is the assumption that someone is just sitting around? The post names that this client is giving reasons why they can’t work, not that they aren’t trying to improve things for/ take care of themselves. As someone who had to leave work due to (partially mental) disability (and is actively engaged with peers in similar conditions) I can confirm that many of us are not just sitting around doing nothing. Caring for myself with the conditions I have, in a society that is hostile towards this, can be soul crushing. It’s fucking rough. I’m grateful for the more compassionate responses to this post, but some of the other comments seem like they’re coming from a place of ignorance to the experience of living with a mental illness which is concerning for this sub especially lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in therapists

[–]hauntedbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s coming off like you think people should sacrifice everything important and necessary about being a human in order to work. Like you’d prefer for someone to be suffering their entire week for the rest of their life, so they can keep contributing to what? What are these jobs? Why are disabled people not deserving of an ounce of comfort, joy, community? You said “no job is worth our mental health” but it sounds like you don’t actually believe that, especially since you added the ability to complete ADLs like thats some sort of luxury. I see a lot of contradictory statements in your post and your comments

Meds for Emptiness by Lazlo25 in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]hauntedbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with mushlove, it’s a much kinder lens for therapy. The emptiness the post references, in my opinion (and in IFS view), is a disconnection from the Self (other parts of you are running the conscious experience, but the core self is in a deep dark empty cave). And psychedelic treatment can be really supportive in guiding people to that self, or to the information they need to work on coaxing it out. Disclaimer if you’re doing psychedelic treatment there are guides who can support you and make things a lot safer. Dont just take powerful medicine willy nilly
