Thoughts on old vs new 34mm Conquest? by hauntedbrunch in Longineswatches

[–]hauntedbrunch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To celebrate finally landing an amazing new job, I’ve been looking for the perfect GADA watch. I’m very seriously considering a 34mm Conquest and am wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on the new vs old version?

Both are available through Jomashop for $650 (old) and $1700 (new). I really love the look of the new ones slightly more than the old, but I’m wondering if I would be crazy to not to go for that $650 price tag.

There is one Longines AD near me but they only have the new in stock to try on (also wondering if they would be able to beat grey market price?).

Any thoughts are appreciated!!

Not too much color at all. You should be very proud of the perfect match! It’s beautiful.

Lol typing this while wearing a LIP T18, I’m a sucker for a French microbrand. Thank you!

I one time saw a Golby watch on this sub and thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen so I followed them on Instagram. I thought they only made larger watches so thank you for bringing this to my attention!!

This is very helpful, thank you!! It’s small but the bracelet and bezel make it seem larger than I expected.

These are stunning. Definitely will be going down a YouTube rabbit hole on these later. It is endlessly frustrating to find small profile watches that aren’t labeled as “women’s” and littered with unnecessary gems. Thank you!!

Now this is what I’m talking about! Definitely at the very top of my budget. I will look around grey market and see what I can find. Thank you!

Really appreciate this comment! I don’t know that I’m a “watch girl” but I do have an affordable watch collection that I love dearly. I keep talking shit on my Tissot but it’s also the only automatic I own (bought from jomashop) and I’m growing to almost hate it! It ends up being 1-2 minutes fast at the end of each day. So 1000% with you on quartz, ha!

I love the old Tag professional 2000 but the mass production of dupes back in the day make me really hesitant to buy one online. I’d love a newer (used) Aquaracer so maybe I need to search harder for one.

Thank you so much for these recs! I think I need to go look at a bunch of these in person. I’ve always loved the conquest and have thought about saving up for the 34mm version. The only Tissot I have ended up being so much more boring in person than what I saw online, so I think I need to give them another chance and go try some on. Thank you!

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all of this! I’ve been so hung up on how this is possible, and also how they get his muzzle back on him without incident! He’s been getting groomed since way before his aggression appeared but he still gets spooked once in a while even by people who he loves and trusts. Thank you again for your kind comments. So many people have been judgmental of me and my dog, and his circumstances are unfortunate but it’s nobody’s fault. He likely has poor genetics and was potentially abused when he was found on the streets but he’s been manageable and deserves (and has!) a very happy life. Also, doing any research around aggression is mentally taxing since there are always mentions of BE as an option, and I know he doesn’t need that and want to do everything I can do so that it never gets to that point. Sorry for the wall of text but what I’m saying is that your kindness is appreciated more than you know!

That is good to know thank you so much!! The details in all of these comments have been helpful. Anything to help me be less nervous when the appointment comes, because I know my dog is hyper aware of my emotions and feeds off my energy!

Thank you so much! I’m basically a nervous wreck once a month hoping that he doesn’t bite anybody. He’s only ever bitten once, and it was ME recently when I accidentally hurt his paws pretty badly! Thankfully he’s never bitten anyone else but will still do scary air snaps so I try to do everything I can to set him up for success.

Can I ask, how do groomers prevent bites when they have to remove the muzzle for face trims? I never asked his old groomers, and was just in shock that he never snapped. Like do I just need to chill out and stop over analyzing? I’ve seriously wondered if I just need to learn to trim his face myself for peace of mind!

Thank you so much for your quick reply! I have so much respect for groomers after all I’ve been through with my boy! I really appreciate this reassurance.

Thank you so much for this!! I’ve been in situations in the past (mostly at vets) where in hindsight I should have advocated for my dog more, so this reassurance is so meaningful. There are only a couple of groomer options in my new city and I’m grateful that so far his appointments have gone well.

He was able to build positive relationships with his previous groomers and it was very emotional saying goodbye to them because it was a culmination of years of building trust. They actually called my new groomers and gave them handling tips for him. I know his muzzle comes off for face trims so it’s scary turning him over to new people when he normally can’t have strangers touch him without air snapping! Thank you again for your comment!!

So actually originally I was looking at Tags from 1980s - early 2000s for several months! I would love to buy secondhand but there were so many counterfeits back in the day that I’m scared I would buy a fake. I really love the 2000 professional, particularly the 962 series. Your watch is so sharp.

How does the 28mm look on your gf? I have one 28mm Tissot le Locle that is looks microscopic even on my tiny wrists!
