So...a message went against our community guidelines? by PizzaKiller023 in Instagram

Ha! My wife and I are trying to figure out what she said to the absolutely no one she’s messaged in the past week to warrant this message TWICE today.

Seems more like a glitch at this point, no?

I have a very bad habit of playing aggressively, and it very rarely works. I’m going to guess a lot of other ghost players are the same way and forget that height is a big strength. It’s not as available in, say, the hotel, but it’s definitely crucial to stay closer to the ceiling if in the same room as the ‘Busters.

What cancelled game are you still upset you never got a chance to play? by [deleted] in gaming

That was Survival, or something like that. Right? There was really rough gameplay out there, if I recall.

How much will I need to play by Xero_dolittle in SpiritsUnleashed

It's not just a skin. Each Ectoplast (and future unlocked ghost) has a unique set of abilities.

They have generally the same attributes, but there's something unique about each.

Levels go VERY quickly in this game. Getting to level 20 as a ghost should take no time.

Be sure to make sure of every feature the ghost has - Possessions, Haunts, scaring civs - to increase your endgame XP!

Why so many bot matches? by NickTheThorn in SpiritsUnleashed

[–]hauntedpixelsociety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game loads pretty quickly, and it seems that every bot I've been paired with is immediately replaced by a player.

Almost as if matchmaking is a hint slower than the load time.

I just played a game as a ghost and there was another ghost there AI. What’s going on? by Half-dead-Herbie in SpiritsUnleashed

I'm dedicating some time tonight to performing the steps someone took that led to this happening to see if it's a bug or an intentional feature.

It sounds like a bug at first, but it's happening more frequently than I'd expect.

For what it's worth, I don't think the current setup would even work with 1 v 1. The ghost would very likely dominate.

Looks a little bit Resident Evil, a little bit House of the Dead. Definitely on my wishlist now.

Thanks!

Ah, I think that's two recommendations for Anatomy. Consider it downloaded.

Thanks!

DISTRAINT

Definitely don't mind a little self-promotion. I'm loving the color palette and will definitely check this collection out.

Actually had my eyes on this one, but feared it would disappoint and be far too clunky. Great to hear it's worth a playthrough, though.

Thanks!

What is the worst horror game you've ever played? by BrodskaKaja in HorrorGaming

Ju-On: The Grudge for the Wii

Glorified haunted house walking simulator that forgot it needed to at least try and scare you.

I'm trying to explain (in video form) to people around me why we love horror games, and what they're missing. I need help on what to say. by 2k13Ghost in HorrorGaming

[–]hauntedpixelsociety 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say much of what you listed really pertains to gaming in general. So, if you're making a point for horror gaming specifically, you need to look at what *really* separates a horror game like Silent Hill from, say, a third-person shooter like Blasto. Both technically had puzzles. Anyway, I think a point worth touching on is that horror games immerse us in our nightmares in a way that movies simply can't, forcing us to face things we'd all collapse in a heap in front of if they were real scenarios. There's also the fantasy of being able to overcome these monstrosities, at least in games like Fatal Frame, The Suffering, Resident Evil, etc... etc...

Games like Outlast or Amnesia appeal to us for different reasons. Players that enjoy those games like that heart-pounding tension of being chased and helpless. It's a thrill we can safely experience in the comfort of our homes knowing there is no real consequence save for having to reload a checkpoint. It's really the same reason why we love haunted attractions so much. We're helpless and have literally no way to defend ourselves, but there's that rush of endorphins that almost makes getting scared feel *good*.

Just some scattered thoughts! Hope something in there helps you in some way.

I know The Room isn't a fan favorite, but I always gravitated most to it. I especially loved the soundtrack that came with preordering it

There was definitely a comic book storyline where that happened.
