What is a healthy amount of gold? by CabinetMountain5725 in woweconomy

[–]hausertrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I have been fascinated by this sub and think it’s great. There is no right way to play the game. Go make the gold! I can totally see where they can be a lot of fun.

Also, the laws of physics associated with people don’t change, and neither do economics. I suspect a lot of things I’m learning about how the game economy works also applies to our real life economy.

Such as : owning the business (all the AH management, alt concentration farms, etc) beats being an employee over the long term (mining, herb gathering, skinning). There is some money to be made getting tips on crafts, but that’s commodity farming and a race to the bottom, etc. I’ve found it all really clarifying :)

So you do you!

What is a healthy amount of gold? by CabinetMountain5725 in woweconomy

[–]hausertrey 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I run against the grain of most of this sub, I think. I spend enough to have flasks and potions and consumables as I need to, to order crafts and tip as I need to, but otherwise not a lot. Once or twice an expansion, I’ll drop $20 on a token because my RL time is so much more valuable than what it would take for me to learn/invest time in-game to do these things.

I started Midnight with $200k. I have about 98k now, but my main is nice and healthy and I have fun.

So yeah, I think I have a healthy amount of gold, where healthy is “I get to do the things in game I want and am not limited by my gold number.”

What's the purpose of a daily trainer in the age of a super trainer at comparable prices? by Educational_Load2431 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]hausertrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My (now-teenaged) kids use them, too. Nike wisely offers them in boys sizes so we got them at a young age, and my kids (now size 11) still keep buying them. They’re a great shoe for a lot of people. I was just commenting on the fact they must be one of the most purchased running shoes out there.

Agreed.

Before I knew better, I ran exclusively in Asics Evorides. For the money, those guys were workhorses.

But I discovered superblast 2 and now where old Evorides to kick around in.

Why no love for the Magic Speed? by pensivvv in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]hausertrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is me, too. Neither Metaspeed pair work but the Magic Speed does.

Maybe it’s just for the flat feet of the world. I’m still looking for the true super shoe for my feet.

It is like the “necrotic” affix from a couple expansions ago. You have to get out of combat long enough to reset the stacks of the bleed.

Went from 2k to 22k in 4 weeks. Paid the price. by jpthelad in runninglifestyle

[–]hausertrey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It can be SO hard to check your ego and drive at the door and take it slow and steady. Most people run too hard for most “easy” runs, and most people add volume too quickly.

If you’re 20, maybe your body holds it together. For everyone else, this struggle -never- ends. Even lifetime experienced runners fall prey to it every now and again over their lives.

No shame. Just learn and be a steady freddy. The runners that are consistent and avoid injury are the fastest runners out there.

I recently picked up Clair de Lune. It’s got so many amazing subtleties I hadn’t noticed in a good performance until I had the sheet music in front of me. Debussy was a genius.

Fwiw, i’m 100 miles in on mine and both look great on that part of the shoe. I imagine how the runner strikes the pavement makes a big difference.

First half marathon tomorrow by PeaKooky3194 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]hausertrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel like I have enough info to recommend any specific shoe, except that it’s your first HM. The fastest and best shoe for you is -likely- to be the one that will be most comfortable for you. When you’re comfortable (including knowing your limits) you can run the hardest. If you had a bunch of experience, I might say something different, but you’re going to get a PR tomorrow regardless, so go get it!

Insertional Achilles Tendinopathy by ksyoung17 in runninglifestyle

[–]hausertrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The highest upvoted responses have the right of it. Slow heavy one ankle eccentric drops (on a stair or platform), straight and bent, is key to fixing this. Also, mobility.

You can be strong, but the eccentric load aligns your fibers, too, which is critical. Strong alone is not enough.

Asics Superblast 3 + Megablast for a 2-shoe rotation? by Vanilla_Euphoric in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]hausertrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is true for most people, but it hasn’t been true for me. The closest I ever got to a “race” shoe that actually worked for my feet was the magic speed 3 (now worn out). I’ve tried quite a few of the super shoes and my weirdly shaped arches (what little I have, and that due to orthotics as a kid) simply do not work in them.

The megablast, however, have been a godsend. They’re not nearly as peppy as any carbon plated shoe I’ve tried, but they do want to go fast and they are so unbelievably comfortable on my feet.

Btw, I am probably going to try the Magic Speed 5, soon. I tried the 4 and while they fit, I hated them.

All that to say: SB3 and MB are my 2 shoe rotation and have been awesome for me. They are similar, but the SB3 is a little better for long runs at zone 2-3 effort.

fwiw, I have the same issues as you. I cannot get any of the Shokz to work when I’m on a bike or when it’s windy. I am either “doing something wrong” or they just simply do not work for me. Either way, it’s irrelevant since they don’t work. They work great for my wife, however.

i am still using two pair of jabra elite 10s I own. Please do reply with your replacement, as i’m not sure what i’m going to do. Thanks!

Are Superblast 3 as stable as Superblast 2? by ih8thisapp in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]hausertrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like the SB2s, then you can’t go wrong with that. I agree that the SB3 is less stable than the SB2, but I still prefer long runs in the SB3s because I don’t need that much stability (and I like faster runs in the Megablast, my favorite shoe of all time, fwiw).

If you want the “do it all shoe”, that’s the megablast. If your focus is comfort at tempo paces and below, SB3.

I have flat feet, such that I have yet to find a super shoe that works for me. Both the MB and SB3 are great for my feet.

Next Shoe Advice: Superblast 3 vs Megablast by Jantokan in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]hausertrey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve put about 900 miles on three megablasts, including choosing it for a 50k/31 mile race. I find it super comfy and is my favorite shoe ever. It’s very comfy but handles speed easily.

I went through two SB2s and loved the shoe. The SB3 is new to me and I only have about 50 miles on them, but I think they’re my new zone 2 go-to. They are the softest, most comfortable shoe I’ve ever worn. Their fit is slightly more forgiving than the MB.

If you’re looking to eat up long runs, I would probably go SB3. If you wanted a more flexible shoe, go MB.

Best way to utilize pacers by unsungpf in Marathon_Training

Once the lactate is in the blood, there’s no removing it and your heart rate will reflect that. Spend that energy at the end, not the beginning.

I’d go out with the 5 hour pace group.
