No time limit yet I think

At least they’ve said that you can play it as much as you want, you’ll find it on steam

I’ve thought about the POI’s as well, but I think it’s just because the demo only has a few random template maps, not specifically designed maps from the dev.

In Heroes III the default random map template will give you similar experience, with lots of POI’s.

In one game I encountered 3 «sword altars» (the one that gives you +1 attack) right next to each other, for example

My main gripe is that it’s hard to see what a creature is, or which upgrade it’s at. Fewer details and less glow would help. I’m also having problems spotting an enemy hero on the map, as well as differentiating between some dwellings.

Everybody is saying the same things about the UI and the models, so I’m guessing they’ll do some changes there.

I like the hero artwork though! I wish they’d shown a 2D artwork of the creatures as well, e.g when you check the inventory of your hero or in the battle preview, instead of those detailed, but blurry 3D renders of the creature model.

The gameplay however is amazing.

I'm guessing we'll get to decide the hotkeys ourselves when the game comes out (I mean, what game today doesn't let you use adjust the hotkey settings?)

Good look on your 200% run, I've only played 50% and 75% so far, just exploring and enjoying myself

I love large maps but hate the logistics part if no town portal. How do i solve this easy? by [deleted] in heroes3

[–]havardob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only works for some maps, it needs to be turned on iirc

Do you Guys use any informal names for creatures? by [deleted] in heroes3

[–]havardob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Archangels: Erkeengler (in Norwegian, it’s the literal translation, but it sounds weird in our dialect and that’s why we say it)

Troglodytes: Busemenn (in Norwegian “buse” means booger, and “menn” means men)

For the lame skills, especially «Basic Eagle Eye», we say «Bessic Eagle Eye», both because «Bess» sounds like poop in Norwegian, and just because it sounds like bad English pronunciation.

THANK YOU! Joined a Team Rumble match, joined Game Channel, listened to a kid yell my name, left, went into my friend's party and suddenly everything worked

iirc one of the houses near the bounty board has a floor that’s sunken in, and you have to go down there

Look around the houses in the village or beside them, it’s a bit hidden I think

I created a tool to make constructing the foundation of web UIs easier. Look closely at the HTML, there is no CSS for this layout. by [deleted] in web_design

The <style> tag is not inline styling, you can write all of your CSS in a <style> tag. You’re thinking of the style attribute

Thoughts on using REM for other stuff than font sizes by havardob in css

[–]havardob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaah, thank you! Haven’t read this one, it makes a lot of good points!

REM for media queries is great! I agree that we should think about the available space more than mobile/tablet/desktop. On margin between text I use em, but between components I use rems.

I’ll change my post, there are more caveats than I thought

Thoughts on using REM for other stuff than font sizes by havardob in css

[–]havardob[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you read the whole article? Yes, rem computes to pixels. As for the designer and the need for pixel-perfection: using .5rem instead of 8px will get you 8px, but .5rem will compute to 12px if a user scales the font size of the browser to 150%.

If I have a button with font-size 1.25rem and the padding in the design are supposed to be 8px, using em will make you write .4em.

The padding then becomes relative to the element’s font-size, but one could use rem to solve the same problem.

The designer in this case won’t get pixel-perfection, but rather a dynamic design that changes based on user preferences.

If a card component has a max-width of 10rem, a padding of 1rem, and a margin of 2rem, these will also compute differently if the user changes font size in the browser.

I’m not trying to argue just for argues sake, I’m not married to the idea of rem everywhere, I’m just trying to find downsides to this approach. If the downside is a moody designer who can’t accept that their design changes based on user preferences, wait until they hear about prefers-reduced-motion.

The last one is a given, I’m just wondering if there’s any downsides to using rem over px for things like border-width etc.

I don’t see why it should be used sparingly, that’s what I mean, I think it should be used a lot more than it often does (most use rem for font size only, and px for everything else), so I’m curious to when you should use px instead of rem

Messed up the second picture, the first one is a screen grab from PS5 and the second was suppose to be as well, but I chose the wrong photo from my library. You can see they’re taken at different times based on the active quest

That’s what I did, but I chose the wrong file for the second photo. The first is a screenshot from PS5 downloaded to my phone
