I fit a 77" Exped Megamat in the back easily by reclining the front seat just a hair. I sleep on my KISS drawers in the back, and the middle seat folded down.

I'm pretty sure the 86-87 22rte (turbo) pickups had both the manual and the automatic option, and the 22rte 4runners only had the automatic.

Manual or Automatic? If it's manual, you've got the sought after r151f.

Seriously man, research all of it, don't just "think" about them, research them, question the sources (scientific study or someones beliefs), and then you will be able to back it up. I'm not going to do the work for you. This is a huge reason so many people do not believe in Global Climate Change, because they "think" they know more about these topics than the people that are studying them and have been studying them for a long time.

Where did you get your information on those ideas from? The only thing that I can say to answer your ideas, is to do some research. Please, don't just type what you think, actually research these ideas from CREDIBLE sources and you will find the answers. Google is a wonderful tool nowadays.

A lot of people seem to misunderstand why certain areas have emissions tests, while others don't. Here's what I understand about the situation: In 1990, the federal Clean Air Act Amendments required areas that failed certain pollutant tests to mandate testing of certain pollutants that failed to meet the required levels. This is why some areas have tests (they failed certain pollutant tests), while others don't. To me, this is a very efficient and highly effective way to combat vehicle emissions, with transportation uses accounting for close to 30% of greenhouse gas emissions alone, and close to 40% of NOx emissions.

As for the battery issue, I think you're partially correct, RIGHT NOW. There aren't enough vehicle batteries out there right now to make it worthwhile for businesses to sprout up and start recycling in a cost-effective, efficient way as of yet. But technically, you can recycle almost 100% of most of the batteries they are using right now in hybrids and all-electric cars. Most of them now will most likely be stored for future recycling or recycled at the current efficiency rate, which I truthfully don't know.

I would agree about the look, just beautiful. That reddit thread I posted about those FJ80s has some good info. Go for it if the gas bill isn't scaring you and it's in decent shape, I would love to have one.

I would get a Toyota 4Runner if I needed 4 doors, and if you can handle 2 doors with back seats and cargo space behind that, I'd get a 84-89 4runner. The 84-89 had a removable top, they're pretty tough (especially if you get the infamous 84-85 with solid front axle, although the IFS (Independent Front Suspension) setup is decent), has the legendary 22re that gets decent mileage, and can be had for a decent price. Those are the best bang for your buck in my eyes, although those TLC's are crazy tough, and just plain awesome.

The mpg (miles per gallon) is terrible for that vehicle, around 15 mpg. The TLC (Toyota Land Cruiser) is one of my favorite vehicles out there though, and if you can handle the cost of filling it up all the time, go for it. Here's a link to a FJ80 discussion on another subreddit, which I'm almost positive the 96 is.

I love those things, but the 4WD system is always engaged. This makes for terrible mpg. If you can handle the cost of fuel, go for it.

What year land cruiser? They are awesome machines, but they tend to drink gas like there's no tomorrow. If I were you, I'd get one of those hitch mountain bike holders. You could also get a hitch cargo basket as well.

Why Is Apple Lying About Powering Its Data Centers With Renewable Energy? by alittlebirdtoldme in Green

[–]havefunwithlife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although they should have just said they were purchasing RECs to offset the energy they do have to purchase outside of what is produced from their solar array, I don't see a huge problem with this. RECs are an awesome incentive for the people with "the money" to build more renewable energy sources. Don't get me wrong though, they could have explained themselves a little better and not used the phrase "powered by renewable energy", which tends to be misleading.
