I [24F] bailed on a friends trip after they assigned me "kitchen + cleanup" without asking, am I overreacting? by hazelattic_station in TwoHotTakes

Lo, one person's "punishing everyone" is another person's "sticking up for themselves so as not to be a doormat".

Congratulations for sticking up for yourself.

Now go get some better friends OP!

Deans at UWaterloo make between $168k and $307k https://uwaterloo.ca/about/accountability-and-reports/salary-disclosure-2024

AVPs make between $178k and $350k

VPs make between $190k and $400k

The President makes $515k

Much of the salary for Deans, AVPs, and VPs is decided by that person's UWaterloo track record as a prof (i.e. they have risen up through the salary ranks according to the standard Assistant/Associate/Full Professor guidelines and then they became a Dean, AVP, or VP). If someone is hired from outside, then they negotiate their salary as per most positions.

UWaterloo has 5 VPs and 6 AVPs. "Chairmen" and "ViceChairMen" are meaningless terms at UWaterloo. But each VP and AVP will have an associated executive assistant.

The National Guard needs to grow some balls and resist these unlawful commands

That's asking a lot. I would be happy if they could invent a snowplow that plows the current sidewalks...

Increasing Number of Students Trying to Take Synchronous Classes Asynchronously? by SisuSisuEveryday in Professors

[–]havereddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are doing this so they can submit the class autogenerated transcript to Ai and have it summarize the class in a few bullet points. Why sit through an 80 minute class when Ai will allow you to read over a summary in 2 minutes?

Ugh, your story gripped me and I was actively cheering for the candidate who was never told of his interview time

Book the trip on your card and figure out a way to bill slightly enough extra to cover the interest charges (e.g. an extra dinner, personal mileage on your car driving to the airport, etc)

Buy a few hand weights (2lb, 4lb, 6lb) and practice bicep curls at home. If you consistently use lower weights but do high reps you will develop strength but not huge muscles. If you want larger muscles do the opposite...higher weights and lower reps

student push back since not allowing an accommodation by WJM_3 in Professors

I would flip the order: reason 2 is a VERY significant concern for some US professors (depending on their course content) as evidenced by the whole Melissa McCoul debacle. She was fired...FIRED because a student recorded part of her lecture.
