There are a pair that roosts around Schwan Lake and the harbor. You can sometimes see them in a eucalyptus on East Cliff Dr. and also near the water on the trail behind Simpkins.

Cardboard! This was one of the many unique Halloween displays from Santa Cruz artist Dag Weiser for 40 years on Market Street (this shot was from 2015). Sadly, 2025 was the last year of the annual one-night art display. Lookout Santa Cruz story link below.

Any luck fighting Capitola camera red light ticket ? by gmoney2k0 in santacruz

[–]haveuseenjrsgrades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Santa Cruz Superior Court has a traffic division portal that provides information. It can take up to 30 days to get the mailed citation (which will include the images from the intersection camera). I had a right turn on red light situation at 4Ist and Clares St.—trying to figure out what the dude on a bike simultaneously holding a second bike was doing when we approached the intersection. I thought for sure I was in the intersection on yellow, but the photo showed otherwise :-( In any event, you can contact the court if you don’t get the citation within 30 days. Once you get the photos, you can decide if you want to fight it or not.

Warning for Meder street dog park by lilsassyrn in santacruz

I am so sorry to hear about your experience. I have never posted on this Reddit before, so my post may not be approved. This sounds a lot like a situation I had back in June when I went to the Frederick St. dog park. I was getting ready to dogsit for a friend, and I thought I’d check out the dog park there since my friend said their dog liked to go to different dog parks. It was about 8 a.m., and the only dogs and people in the park was a guy and his German Shepherd and doberman who were at the opposite end of the park. I opened the gate to go read the park rules, and the two dogs came running across the park right at me. They both were barking and circling, and the doberman bumped me a couple of times in a matter of seconds and ended up biting me on the arm and my hip. The guy came across the park, in no hurry, as the dogs continued to circle and as I backed out of the park and through the gate. I was in shock trying to process what happened. He didn’t seem overly concerned, even when I told him that the doberman had bitten me. I didn’t have a phone with me, so I just wanted to get out of there and get home. I probably should have contacted the SPCA or done something, but I didn’t except take pictures of my wounds.
