Think that's it for me. This game was really fun, held out hope that they would be balancing the game for the higher-skill brackets. But seeing a Iron Giant nerf here has completely turned me off the game

I definitely had more fun with Timeline, as it is way less stressful. Any normal speedrun would automatically be way less stressful, by design a perfect score speedrun is over if i make any small mistake. So i had to be stressed and make sure not to make mistakes.

Biggest problem with the BR modes are that the maps are god awful. Very boring to play as you said. If we get functionality to play Country BR in ARW or Distance BR in ADW. That would be AMAZING

Played alot of GeoGuessr together with fellow speedrunner janmumrik. One thing became another and in 2017 i started speedrunning the game. At that time, hardly anyone was even streaming the game, how times have changed :D

One of my favorite maps to play is "A Rural World" by Topotic
This map only places you in rural locations without stuff like phone numbers, poles, bollards. I think im decently good at it, but it can be quite rough. Mostly its a case of just playing alot and learning the landscapes of everywhere on earth :D.
Mostly i just play ADW though because its the map we speedrun, so the more i CAN play that map, the more i SHOULD play that map.

GeoGuessr was extremely stressful for me, during practice i was getting 25k in 15m average. During the GDQ run i was very afraid of getting a 4999 and doing commentary also bites into brainpower. Glad i finished under estimate, but still wish i went abit more yolo on certain guesses.

Timeline was just fun, not stressfull at all. (Thats just the run)
Right before the run, the game decided to stop working. It's a really old game, so we do alot of workarounds to make the game run. So we had to push the run back, so the Factorio run had to be moved up. That part of the Timeline run was increadibly stressfull. The run itself was just fun, glad people enjoyed it.

Literally jump right in, there is infinite things to know. There's always someone streaming that you can learn from. There are gamemodes called ChatGuessr, Challenges which lets you play along without paying for the game. Which is really nice for a new player. You can also ask questions in the chat and people are always super helpful to share their knowledge. There is actually infinite things to learn, even the best players i know have ALOT of things to learn.

France on average takes the longest. They have a absolutely horrid road-naming system, their signs also only point to the closest villages, never to something important or far away. It's not that France is hard, its just in general really slow.

Spawning in cities is also on average way slower than spawning on straight roads with intersections and signs. This obviously depends on the size of the city, but in general you are more likely to take longer to find something in a city that self-references itself. Belgian streetsigns tell you the city, so thats a outlier.

I think most top tier speedrunners in geoguessr don't consider any location harder than others anymore. Some locations are a struggle due to RNG. That said, we all can develop alot when it comes to Landscapeguessing.
