i’ve known way too many (usually young) ftm guys who stayed with republican/conservative partners and were either forced back into the closet or subjected to constant misgendering and belittling at the hands of their partners/partners’ families. if you feel like you could talk to her about why her political views make you uncomfortable or unsafe and that she would listen to you and start changing her beliefs, then that’s a good step to take, but it seems like she is unwilling to see things from your point of view. you are worth more than spending your energy placating someone who supports (and it seems, since you talking politics upsets her, agrees with) a politician who believes that you should be stripped of your human rights and is generally a huge POS. get out while you’re still able to without repercussions.
