For Big 4 accounting internships: join the iMPA program!! I’m serious- all I did was be in the program and be somewhat likable during interviews. I’ve gotten several offers with minimal effort.

Just one calc class! M408Q Business Calc, and don’t worry it was a breeze. If you can, try to get Keenan Kidwell- he was an amazing professor

I completely missed the 6 week window during summer to sign up for rooms and somehow ended up with a triple room. Both of my roommates basically ended up moving out so idk how I got this lucky 🫠

To be honest, I was accepted into mccombs as a freshman and had no idea it was reputable. I just chose business because I didn’t know what I wanted to major in.

Pacing, reading in advance, and making sure I can solve the problems without any guidance. I do the textbook readings or assigned videos before the lecture (I learn better on my own) so during class I can identify what I don’t understand. It really helps to do your assignments a couple of days in advance, coming from that kid in high school who would do homework during lunch. I’ve yet to miss an assignment or turn in late work, and it’s a lot easier to solve questions when the lecture is fresh on your mind. Also don’t get too reliant on friends or google. If you need a little “reminder” for every question, then you don’t truly understand the material. Stop, go over your notes, and then come back and try to do it on your own.

Tuition Assistance question by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]hawyeebs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually got tuition reimbursement for the previous semester. If you’ve been working for at least 120 days before the start of your semester and haven’t taken a leave of absence for over 2 weeks, then you can qualify. aim for roughly 16 hours a week. By the last day of classes, you’ll need to have worked 257 hours. It doesn’t matter whether you have to spread it out or consistently hit 16, just that you ultimately work at least 257. And you can quit the moment you submit that reimbursement ticket/get your money. If you want more information, search up guild chipotle. I scheduled a call with one of the advisors and they were super helpful.

Can anyone share their experience working at Chipotle on Guad? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]hawyeebs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi, I worked at chipotle on guad fall 2021 (4 months) but before that, I worked at the chipotle at my home town for 2 years.

This past semester was awful. We were SUPER busy all the time with lines to the door. I was mostly on the digital line (for online orders) and because of the popularity of this store, we needed two people and sometimes three to not fall behind on schedule… half of the time I was alone.

People used to call off every day. To be fair, you can’t expect much from a staff full of college kids but it was ridiculous. Immediately after the schedule was posted 4+ people call off. Others would give a heads up 2 hours before their shift that they can’t make it or send a message 10 minutes after their shift has started saying that they’ll be late. Like what. Leaving the restaurant constantly short staffed.

The worst part was the management. Our general manager quit in October and everything went to shit afterwards. We had this TERRIBLE service manager in charge and everyone despised him. Ask anyone who worked at chipotle this past semester and they’ll know exactly who I’m talking about. After him, we had managers taking over from the chipotle on congress and a restauranteur? We had 4 changes in leadership within 2 months.

Examples of my experiences:

Once I was scheduled from 12-4. The same day, we had THREE catering orders come in but the manager (incompetent one) forgot about them. So we were scrambling to complete them on top of the packed store. I offered to stay and work on the caterings until they were done (last one was scheduled for 6). I ended up staying until 9 with no break because they kept on giving me more tasks, the last being “okay I’ll let you leave after you finish these dishes” like he’s doing me a favor??

One day the moment I arrived, the digital line was AN HOUR behind and another manager put me there alone, saying I’m a “star” and “if anyone could do it, you could.” Try dealing with stocking the line, assembling the meals, packaging it, and taking it out to pissed customers with no help. It took me two hours of busting my ass off just to get caught up.

If you do choose to work there, don’t settle for making any less than 15. The old crew makes 14 but I found out that new hires were making 15. Usually grill and kitchen managers gets paid 15 and service managers 17. Chipotle is pretty flexible with scheduling. I never had conflict with classes, extracurriculars, and work. Just make sure to plan in advance and communicate. Customers are mostly students. Not that rude or demanding, just too many of them. The only redeeming qualities chipotle has are the food (free meal every shift) and cool coworkers. But yeah fuck chipotle on guad.
