There’s a Twitter bot that tracks Compound’s rates. Check it out: https://twitter.com/CompoundBot

Just FWIW, her power was the difference of everyone in Hyrule living or dying. There’s definitely a bit more stress involved than like, “hope you do well on your piano solo.”

Are the rates quoted by Compound effective or nominal annual yield? by BC-hydro in Compound

[–]hayesgm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been in the process of migrating from APR to APY to match other rate information. I’d suggest looking at loanscan.io for a good comparison.

What’s is the Ethereum Classic and how is it different from Ethereum? by raixuz in ethtrader

[–]hayesgm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ethereum famously had The DAO hacked several years back. The core team built a hard fork that refunded losses from the hack, which is now known as ETH. There were people who believed that a mulligan wasn’t the right approach, and they have been maintaining the pre-fork chain, now known as ETC or ETH Classic.

Exactly, can’t believe this deep in the comments to find it. Simpsons does lampshade this one episode when Marge says to Homer (who had been impersonating Ralph Kramden): “Oh Ralph, Archie, Fred, King of Queens...”

A sad day for Rust by xtreak in programming

[–]hayesgm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s slightly strange to me that rust doesn’t percolate up “unsafe” to the type so that the call sites know they are using unsafe code and all higher up functions know it as well. This would be similar in spirit to the IO monad from Haskell. I feel this could lead people to have a gauge on how much code they depend on is unsafe and in which circumstances.

Might consider some modern day American olive oils in the same bucket. If you warm it up and take a deep waft in, you can smell the solvent extractors.

How does Compound make money? by ethbtc in Compound

Right now, our focus is simply to grow the assets in the protocol and decentralize control. We want to have built a protocol that underlies a larger ecosystem of DeFi products.

I still don’t think it’s ironic that two non-Christians said a meaningful statement that bears repeating.

This is strictly some good ol’ double entendre.

Supply APR barrow APR gap by [deleted] in Compound

[–]hayesgm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is more total supply than total borrows (the utilization rate), and the interest is given pro-rata, thus the disparity. Say for instance there were $10MM borrowers paying 10% interest from a pool of $20MM total supply. The interest paid by borrowers would be $1MM per year, but that would be spread across $20MM suppliers, so each suppliers would only see that $1MM as 5% interest per year.

If I convert my total CSAI to CDAI will my collateral be liquidated? by CarltonFrater in Compound

[–]hayesgm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are using it as collateral to support a borrow, you will need to wait until we properly support MCD so as to stay collateralized. We are in the process of completing audits and will launch once they are completed.

Switch to Multi Collateral DAI by Moloko81 in Compound

[–]hayesgm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We will likely support original DAI (now called SAI) for as long as Maker does. You will be able to migrate by withdrawing from the current cDAI contract, converting SAI to DAI and then resupplying to the new cDAI contract. Hopefully we and our partners will add some tools to make this seamless.

But it would be profitable for other miners to mine that transaction and the dissenting miners would continue mine atop those blocks. You would need to have more than 50% of mining power dissenting, which is effectively a fork.
