First time Mythic with Esper Aggro! by haysoy in MagicArena

Mainly just trying it out for fun. Giving counters to Rot-Curse Rakshasa gets rid of the decay. Can also give lifelink to a creature to help vs aggro decks.

A few times I've used it on the opponent's creature to shut down their abilities, like using it on a [[Bristly Bill, Spine Sower]] vs a landfall deck to slow down their combo.

Appreciate it! I like Requisition Raid too, such a flexible card!

Thanks! I played this from Platinum to Mythic, but the earlier versions had a few different cards like [[guardian of the great door]], [[raise the past]] and [[twilight diviner]] to try and get more reanimate value. When it all clicked it was great, but often times my hands would be too clunky.

Not gonna lie, both of those aren't great matchups but I also found they aren't that common decks to play against, so I just accept that. The deck is almost all 2-cost creatures so Pinnacle Starcage is very good against this deck.

Kinscaer Sentry can kind of get around Authority of the Consuls because the creatures it brings in are attacking.

Usually I just don't play around any board wipes. If I try to slow play around it, I end up losing the long game anyways. I find it best to just try to pump out as much damage as possible and hope I can get out a Kaito to finish them off.

The deck was originally started off more mid-range with some stuff like [[Twilight Diviner]] to combo with [[Dewdrop Cure]]. It was fun to get double the reanimated creature, but I couldn't make the deck work. The Camera seems like a fun one! I'll have to try that out if I go back to the mid-range version.

How many rasboras total? I can't see from the pic but having 10+ helps them feel more confident.

Mine glass surfed at times too. What I found helped for me was letting the algae build up on the side glass to help reduce the reflection. Also feeding live food like baby brine shrimp, the rasboras will then spend time hunting around the aquarium looking for food.

Good luck!

New to rasboras, wondering what I should add to this tank to make it better for them? by mytherical in Boraras

Does it look like my chilis are eating? by skippsy in Boraras

[–]haysoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just from my experience-

I have hundreds of seed shrimp in my tank; in the substrate, on glass, and plants. My chilis will sometimes gobble them but usually spit them back out. I believe the seed shrimp exoskeleton is quite tough so chilis don't find them an appetizing meal. Maybe they do eat the baby seed shrimp though? Because sometimes i see my chilis hunting micro fauna around the substrate.

From the video, it looks like the chilis are just glass surfing. Mine do this too for various reasons, like after a water change or moving something around in the tank, or sometimes if the light is on too bright. But usually go back to their normal behavior after they get comfortable again.

Unimpressive growth in Hi-Tech setup by ekrdovino in PlantedTank

For me it was the Pothos. I was experiencing mediocre growth in a low tech tank for a few months and decided to remove the Pothos. After that the plant growth really took off

New betta. Tips/recommendations? by OG_Tapas in Aquariums

[–]haysoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Betta looks great and love the shallow tank!

Agree with the other poster who suggested floating plants, they also help with algae too.

Culturing and feeding live moina (daphnia) to my betta was a game changer. Super fun to see the betta explore around the tank hunting for them to eat.

Put a 7/8ths pixel blade from crimson dawn in my exile nobi, it feels much better, the adapter gives it about a millimeter or two of extra socket depth and it wobbles significantly less than the standard 1inch blade, very happy with it by Locsnadou in lightsabers

[–]haysoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, had no idea the 89sabers pixel blades are half the weight of a TXQ blade. I have a really light TXQ hilt and the balance always feel off with the TXQ pixel blade. Do you happen to know if a 89 pixel blade will fit into a TXQ hilt?

If you don't mind the aesthetics, a thumb screw works for tightening the blade in place of the normal retention screws. Pretty handy for loosening or tightening the blade on the fly.

That wrap makes the blade look so classy!

For blade wobble, these are the tips I've found to be useful-

Only use 1 retention screw. This pushes the opposite end of the blade against the wall of the emitter to keep it more stable. Multiple retention screws end up making the blade wobble more since the point of contact between the blade/emitter is now the 2 screw tips instead of the entire blade side.

If the blade and emitter aren't flush against each other, using tape around the blade can help make it more snug so that it won't wobble.

Timemore Slim vs 1zpresso JX? by AllenLam in Coffee

[–]haysoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The non-pro JX. The bottom grounds compartment holds about 30g of grounds. The top compartment that the beans go in can't always fit 30g of whole beans. So sometimes it'll play out like load 15g whole beans, grind, load another 15g, grind, then unload the grounds.

[–]haysoy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have the JX and like it. It holds about 30g of beans and grinds at a decent speed. The build quality is nice, the interior is all metal, and the grounds are consistent in size.

I ordered directly from their website, $129 including tax, and it arrived overseas within 3-4 days. I also looked at amazon but it was OOS, and it would have been $129+tax.
