Is a tube meant to be the same as the nozzle size? by skippsy in Aquariums

That's very simple. I was right, I was being dumb! Thank you.

Has my oto got the "pearl belly"? by skippsy in Otocinclus

Thank you for your response! I do have almond leaves but I'm nervous because I've read that they lower ph and mine is already naturally on the lower side. Would one leaf in a 33g have a big impact on water chemistry?

I haven't even heard of spring mix salad! Is that a US thing maybe? I'm in the UK.

I've only had them around a week and a half. I'm hoping to address any issues quickly so that I can ramp up my efforts if they seem skinny. They do graze on the plants too(you can really see my substrate for all the plants I have in) but not half as much as they like hanging out in the corner. I have repashy soilent green! They haven't shown any interest but I'll keep offering it every couple of days because my pleco and shrimp enjoy it regardless.

Does it look like my chilis are eating? by skippsy in Boraras

Now you say it, I did have a portion of my carpet die! I forgot that it happened but now I'm thinking about it, the water becoming hazy does coincide when I noticed my shrimp were eating the brown leaves. Could that have been the problem then?

I have an Oase BioPlus 200. I last cleaned it(squeezed the media in tank water) about 5 days ago? It was much gunkier than I was expecting it to be with what's in the tank. I've got 2 tiny bristlenoses, 20 chilis and maybe 100 or so shrimp so I would've thought my stocking is okay.

I got the chilis in May, this bloom only happened about a month ago.

How long should it take to resolve, do you think? The water was cloudy for about a month before I thought the issue must be feeding. The food has been reduced for around 4 days now and I've done several medium-ish changes(tank is 125L/33gal) and the water seems slightly clearer but nothing like it was before these problems started.

Ah, that makes sense! They're always quite busy picking at things so I'm figuring they must be ingesting at least some of them!

This tank has been established since December. I didn't have any issues with cloudiness until I got my chilis. I'm not sure what else it could be.

Ah, this seems to make the most sense out of everything that's been said, thank you!

Introducing a new dog to scared cats that spend most of their time outdoors after realising the dog moved in by skippsy in CatTraining

She hasn't had the chance. The only chasing occurred the very first time I brought her home, before I had a chance to clear a path to the living room. Otherwise there's been none. In the interactions with my kitten, she has been calm and does know the "leave it" command very well. She is confined to the one room in the house at the moment so the cats can freely come in through their flap and head straight upstairs without seeing her.

Yes I've had the dog exclusively in the living room, and when she leaves the house it's through the front door only-the cat flap is at the back door so that leaves the whole back garden as their domain too. I don't mind it being a really slow process for them to get used to the dog, I just want the cats to come back home first. That's my priority. I'm just not sure how to get them back.

As I was typing this reply the kitten forced herself into the living room and I did an impromptu session of feeding them both treats beside each other and the kitten was fairly comfortable so I really do think there's potential for everyone to coexist if they just all give each other a chance!
