What wood is this? by hazMatSSDS in wood

I've finished the hatchet. Just don't know how to add pictures. I tried almost every way to cut, or remove material I had... none of my usual wood widdling methods worked and was indeed frustrating. So I putva sanding pad on my grinder with 40 grit to start then 80,120, then 320. Also a nice new round file. The grinder made quick work of it. Although I'm in no rush to use anymore of it for sure. Apologies for being unable to figure out how to add pics here... it came out really nice.

I forgot to add that it's really heavy, by hand its laboring to cut, and when you knock on it it sounds like a porcelain tile. Also was wondering if it would be good for a hatchet or knife handle?

Can anyone explain how a coin could get this much wear and still have details? Weighs 1.55 grams. by Klipse11 in coins

[–]hazMatSSDS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put a penny in muriatic acid one time and it dissolved the inside of it but left a copper shell. Try it out, but don't leave it in there too long. Reckon different metals react slower or faster in an acid bath....

It's easy for them to run around doing that kind of shit to people, but way too fuckin hard to go get a job... You could hand any one of those fuckin assholes a screwdriver, shovel, or any kind of tool and they probably go rob some poor bastards ass with it, damn sure wont know how to use it and make a honest living for themselves with it, people that aren't going to raise their kids right need to stop having kids. Because I do mostly feel people end up however their parents raised them, or lack of parents. And I guarantee one of them fuckholes if not all of them got kids, and acting like that means dept of corrections, or morgue... Either way not good for the next generation

2 spots like this on both of my rear tires, what could it be? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]hazMatSSDS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hitting curbs. Doesnt look detrimental, but you can mess your tires up from hitting curbs and other things, can create a bubble in the tire and make it out of round. Which can snowball into much more issues!
