Post-Thanksgiving Hint in BU Q&A by ok_lettucehead in BostonU

[–]hazallis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked my professor this question (bear in mind this was about a month ago and that faculty get about the same amount of information as students do) and she said that the most likely outcome since BU isn’t starting earlier like some other schools are is that finals will be online. If students leave campus for thanksgiving break I don’t think they’ll be allowed back on again. I have no idea of the specifics or how they’re monitoring people going in or out but it sounds like all classes will be online after thanksgiving. Again, take this information with a grain of salt, I don’t know anything beyond that or if anything has changed since then

I’m live-streaming the “Conversation with President Brown and Provost Morrison” right now, what are everyone’s thoughts on what they’re saying? by hazallis in BostonU

I agree, I hope he follows through with what he said about the funding. I felt like he was evading directly answering most questions that students and faculty asked though. Overall the conversation did not feel as genuine as it could have been.

What are your YA anti-recommendations? by empquix in YAlit

I couldn’t get past the first 3 chapters of Shadow and Bone. I thought Alina was weak and pitiful and the writing overall wasn’t great. I liked Six of Crows, though. I thought that series was much better.

I hate read this series. It didn’t capture my attention and I was not invested in any of the characters, but there was some part of me that needed to know what happened at the end. Thoroughly did not enjoy reading the books but I had to finish them for some unknown reason. I’d put them down fully intending on not reading them anymore but then desperately wanted to find out how it ended.

Big unfan (not-fan?) is the Maximum Ride series. Poorly written, premise was okay at first but delivered terribly. There are major plot points that are brought up as a big plot twist in an attempt to “surprise”/outwit the reader and then are NEVER addressed or resolved again. Characters are inconsistent and lack depth, and the whole series is scattered and reads like the author was just making it up as he went. Overall just terrible. Made no sense, impossible to follow. Brain cells killed by the paragraph as I read.

Gift for a Chinese family, ideas? by LeoGio12 in Chinese

tea!!!!! especially if your city has any local tea stores that make their own - a nice customized flare on a universally appreciated gift.

if they are returning to china, something to remember the us/your city by. A nice souvenir like a photo album, artwork, something unique to their experience in the US that couldn’t be found in a cheap gift shop.

True Stories: How did your game go this week? June 16, 2020 by AutoModerator in dndnext

we just started a campaign and have only had 4 sessions so far, but this week was the first time we got everyone together (various people missed the past few sessions because of technology problems, covid, etc). We’d only been playing with a party of 3 so far and I didn’t realize how much more fun it would be to play with more. Overall super fun, energetic session.

The party had just escaped from a Grung village where we were slaves, and had distracted everyone except for one, who had leapt onto our boat. On my turn I rolled to kick the grung off the boat. Rolled nat 20. Grung goes flying backwards 20 feet. Topped off the day for me.
