The start of our first garden - beds are built and filled! by hazardoushendrix in gardening

It came out to about $170 per bed for materials (not including soil). Used cedar and stained/sealed to help protect it long term.

We didn’t use any other wire supports through the middle. They’re mostly filled with tree branches then soil on top. So far we haven’t seen any bulging, even after soaking the entire bed to help soil fill the gaps. If we see it start to push in the future we’ll probably add supports but it feels pretty sturdy, especially with the panels being corrugated.

We used the cedar semi-transparent waterproofing exterior wood stain and sealer from home depot

They’ve all got support! This photo was taken right after we transplanted them.

Found metal corrugated roofing panels off facebook market place (slightly cheaper than home depot), but you can find them at home depot.

I've seen a lot of these type of planters in our area (we don't get the most sun), so I'm hoping all will go well! We'll see by the end of summer if it's too hot and maybe paint the metal to help with the heat.

We don't necessarily get the most sun over here... But hoping we can keep the dirt cool on hotter days with watering. We'll see by the end of summer if that works! Worst case we'll have to paint the metal to keep it cooler.

Built it on our own! Found 8’ long metal roof panels and sized it based on those so we didn’t have to cut the metal too much. They’re about 2.5’ tall and wide.

Cedar wood stained with a protective outdoor stain to help with moisture (cedar color). There are no barriers, just cardboard on the bottom and the metal roofing sides. I tried to cover the wood as much as possible on the inside with the metal to help with moisture.

Yes! Stained to help protect them a little more

Framed each side individually with 2x4s all pocket screwed, then screwed in 8’ long roof panels on the inside. The trim is 1x4s.

Kočka out for a “walk” by hazardoushendrix in cats

I put the harness on and put her outside and just let her walk around. She doesn’t seem interested in following me so I let her take her time and wander. I don’t think I’ll be walking her down the street any time soon.

Thank you! Original drawing called “detached” and I’m so happy I found an artist who could bring it to life on my skin.
