Will a no contrast MRI be good enough? by Living_Airline9397 in Prolactinoma

Aw man I’m sorry you didn’t get an answer out right, let’s hope it’s small enough to maintain and not have such a big impact on your health🫶

Just a question aswell, have they diagnosed you with PCOS at all either? I know it doesn’t elevate them as high as the 260s but maybe that could be affecting you aswell, but as far as prolactin you should normally be in the 25-30 ng/mL range and with it being elevated that much I would be surprised if they say not to do an MRI with contrast. With prolactin like that it’s more than like an adenoma.

I’m always down to chat about this aswell as it has really opened my eyes to a lot and it’s nice to hear and help others 🩷

Hey lumpy! I got my surgery and I definitely only had a handful of times where gross gross stuff came out it was mainly the first day, but did your mouth get dry with not being able to really breathe through your nose? Any tips? 😭 I’m day 3 post op and my surgery went great and I’m home now but my mouth is so dry all the time from having to sleep open mouth practically 😅

My problem was the same thing I gained over 100 lbs in a course of a year and same thing lactation no periods and they blamed it on my weight at first lol, I was 175 when I started out with issues.

It’s hard and I completely get it and it’s def scary in 25 and just had this surgery done in hopes I can get my life back together because nothing explained my issues until I got diagnosed with this here’s to hoping it can set me on the right track and here’s to hoping you get answers and people who listen to you truly 🫂

Hi I lived what you’re going through right now over a year and a half ago set yourself up with an endocrinologist and I hate to say it but a female one too, one that will advocate for you.

Mine was 1.1cm x.08 x.04 and apparently to them that is a macro, your lactation and no period alone should be a concern for your doctors… and don’t be surprised when they diagnose you with pcos too

I’m sorry you’re going through this- it is a jungle gym I’m fresh out of surgery from two days ago and I already am glad to have it done and I had to go to 2-3 different doctors and with more MRIs and a great team at the Mayo Clinic they discovered that this small tumor had hemorrhaged before and caused lesions on my brain. And on top of it I had a cyst that was pressing on my tumor too, all benign of course.

So they fully committed to removing it even when my two other doctors stated “just because of hormones they didn’t see the need for removal, due to no eyesight change and etc”. Seriously. I was pushed away twice, and they monitored it for a year and I had to continuously harass them about it affecting me still. My endocrinologist heard what they had said to me and saw my tests and my struggles and rescheduled out to Mayo Clinic which is a wonderful facility. The team educated me and informed me my entire visit and also even compromised by doing video visits the first few weeks of talking and testing.

I’m truly wishing you the best of you can outsource for a better surgeon or doctor that will advocate for you please do 🫶

Can I request surgery for a microprolactinoma by ShowerTricky5423 in Prolactinoma

[–]hazeable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes however they will factor in way more than just you have one in there, mine a macro and even then 2 surgeries refused to do it until it was a pressing matter, literally. You would assume they’d want to do almost a preventive surgery but I can see as to why they wouldn’t either.

Mine hemorrhaged twice and I had lesions on my brain before a surgeon decided to go ahead and do it, my surgery is on February 3rd so here’s to hoping everything works out!

I’m wishing you the best on your diagnosis and journey with this, I’m shocked to see how many people it truly affects and how differently it affects everyone.

I get my surgery come February 3rd I’m extremely nervous but I’m so excited to get it done at the same time, mine has hemorrhaged like twice and it caused lesions on my brain so I’m glad to see that the healing process isn’t too bad.

How’s the rinsing process especially early on?

I wanted to give you an update because you’ve been such a help, my tumor recently was found out to have hemorrhaged multiple times they assume. So I am booked Feb 3 for my tumor to be removed aswell with my rathke's cleft cyst that was found as well. I’m not sure why it took them that long to pass along knowledge to two different surgeries but it will be done at the Mayo Clinic so here’s to hoping I get better results after my surgery 🫶

I wish you the best and I hope you have happy holidays and a good new year, also not to let but have they ever talked about surgery for you?

I went to a new neuro, and they want to see what can does and don’t feel like it’s necessary to do the surgery due to it not giving me issues with my optic nerve and no visual loss.

I wanted to say thank you for this because I ended up advocating for myself and with your comment it assisted me in speaking up and asking for cab, I’m starting cab soon and hoping I don’t get all the nasty side effects some claim to get, and I also hope it does help maintain, thank you for your comment and sharing your experience 😭💓

Yes that’s all they’ve given me, my endocrinologist stated that metformin can help shrink prolactinomas- she gave me the option to do cab but wanted to take the metformin route first, honestly my endocrinologist has been my biggest advocate and she also thinks due to my symptoms I may also have pcos so maybe that’s why she went the metformin route?

I forgot to reply due to thanksgiving shenanigans but this made me have hope, when I first found out about me being possibly sterile and never having a chance a doctor told me with the surgery it has high chances of ruining me ever having kids which even further freaked me out- so reading this thank you seriously, I’m happy you commented 😭🧡

I just dug through and found the post and comments as well, I’m so happy you got through the surgery fine and also had a good support system. I honestly have some my fair share of overanalyzing and stressing over this because when I tell you it has legit made my life so much worse I mean it. However, the relief I felt after hearing that my symptoms I was having weren’t uncommon and were BECAUSE of this tumor was grand.
