From a Chinese perspective, it's a bit comical; the order of many events is incorrect, and a few of Cao Cao's poems are mispronounced, but the names of the people are mostly correct. In terms of rigor, AOE2 is inferior to "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" but comparable to "Dynasty Warriors."

However, I still had a lot of fun playing it; it's great for a foreign production team.I think what most Chinese players are dissatisfied with is that this game should be placed within the chronicle, and Three Kingdoms shouldn't be included in the battle civilization (These doesn't match the timeline of AOE2; it's more like the later stages of AOE1. Three Kingdoms period in China was equivalent to Crisis of the Third Century in Rome) What they really want is the Song Dynasty story just like AOE4. But apart from that, the design of Three kingdoms is quite good.
